Collecting Puppy On Saturday

Hello, I am collecting our 3/4 Pug Puppy this Saturday. He will be just over 8 weeks old. It will be our first Family pet. I am worried I feel he will be a big responsibility which I don't doubt we will fail at but I am worried, it seems scarier than a baby. Firstly pup has been Microchipped but not Vaccinated, is this normal? I paid £100 deposit in cash and I have asked if I can pay remainder by cheque (so I have evidence of payment) however breeder has said cash only, again is this normal? We have everything ready for his arrival. I am worried that he will be 5 mins of excitement for our 5 year old.

@Nesssie
No dog is hyperallergenic.
Get a cross breed. I don’t have a problem with it. I do have a problem with intense farming of pretty little cross breeds with cutesy names, no health testing and puppies going to people who have no idea what they are taking on.
Rescue.
Or pedigree.
If you’re buying a dog you need to be aware that very few breeders are reputable. Research and be prepared to wait.
That’s if you care at all about animal welfare and aren’t completely selfish.

I also have a problem with intense farming with no health testing but that is not the case in every crossbreed breeder.

And how can anyone make an informed decision when they just get scared away? That’s what happens time and time again on here.
Anyway, I have argued this on many different threads.
I’m off to the IACGMOOH thread as normal at 9pm Wine

This isn’t a reputable breeder. What isn’t informative?
If people want “oh how sweet hun” they can post on FB.
Popular cross breeds are an unregulated disaster. Squashed faces and problems from both sides of the cross. Bred by people who are quite happy to play puppy roulette for a bit of Christmas cash.
Poor dogs suffer.

A pug cross is infinitely better than a pedigree pug. He’ll be able to breathe properly.
It was “proper” breeders who perfected the dachshunds with back problems, cavaliers who all have heart disease, GSDs with hip dysplasia, bulldogs which can’t give birth and all the other dogs with long pedigrees and awful health problems.

Wolfiefan · 30/11/2018 21:11

@MattMagnolia not necessarily. It may still have all the problems of a pug plus whatever the other breed has as an issue too.
Pedigree breeders have created some awful situations. No argument at all there. Good breeders try and breed to create a better future breed.
I have a wolfhound. A good breeder would never use any dog with any kind of heart issue or any link to liver shunt. They would try to breed from longer lived lines and use a mate to try to create the healthiest pups.
Not me. I don’t know nearly enough!!

I would be concerned with the fact that's she's got 3 other litters in her house. How can she possibly be keeping an eye and making sure there all feeding etc. Seems like she's wanting to make a quick buck for Xmas. How much you paying for this pup?
