How much would you pay for these home made liver treats (photo included)

I am fundraising at the local village fair. The liver treats (thank you fellow doghouse posters - you gave me the recipe in a previous thread) are additive free and all natural ingredients of flour, liver, eggs and water.

Each bag contains 60g of treats - and if using the treats for a dog walk for instance (I treat mine for jumping into the car, for recall, for accepting the leash, for ignoring other dogs etc) I would say the bag would last for 3-4 walks.

How much would you pay for a bag? They will have proper labels on them specifying price and ingredients and storage instructions.

I don't want to under price but neither do I want to over price

Thanks

To give an idea of scale the green glass next to them is a wide based drinking glass

£2 -£2.50
How much did they cost to make?

hmcAsWas · 25/08/2018 17:14

I'll tell you later Hopping (keeping schtum at the moment so as not to influence responses). Ingredients were not costly, but the effort was surprisingly significant and it took a long time chopping into bite size pieces, washing out disgusting livery flood processor etc (and the smell was something else!)

I would be happy with £2 if people will pay it Smile

£3-4 if properly labelled showing high quality ingredients etc. They look very professional op, hope they sell well!

TeddyIsaHe · 25/08/2018 17:50

At least £2 I think. They look great!

SagelyNodding · 25/08/2018 17:51

I'm imagining a queue of dogs drooling in front of your stall Grin 2.50-3 quid I reckon!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/08/2018 17:54

This will last me for more than 6 walks.

I'll pay 3.50.

Penfold007 · 25/08/2018 17:55

I must be really mean as I was thinking £1 a bag. They do look good.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/08/2018 17:56

It's a very stinky business, Penfold.

DramaAlpaca · 25/08/2018 18:02

To save me making them myself as it is a messy & smelly job, I'd pay £3.50 or so.

I'm also picturing lots of dogs hanging hopefully around OP's stall. My two will do anything for liver cake.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/08/2018 18:05

I’d pay up to £4 for a fundraising event

tedx · 25/08/2018 18:09

£2-3

Wolfiefan · 25/08/2018 18:14

I hate to say it but unless you are licenced you can't sell dog treats. Not even for charity!

Penninepain · 25/08/2018 18:16

Sorry to be a pain, but you do know that you need a license for this? Bloody ridiculous, i know, but anything raw( and yes, i know its not) must not be gifted or sold.

Personally, i would go for it - raw fed dogs- but just be awarek incase you come across a jobsworth😁

Ihavenoideaatall · 25/08/2018 18:20

£2

mimiasovitch · 25/08/2018 18:22

I'd pay £3-4. My dog lives liver cake and I can't bear the smell so never make it.

Regarding licensing, it's something I've bought at a few fetes, so I can't imagine it'd be a problem.

confusedandemployed · 25/08/2018 18:23

£2-3 easily.

lizzybennett1926 · 25/08/2018 18:28

£3.50-4 happily

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 25/08/2018 19:14

With apologies, I probably wouldn't buy them at all as I avoid things with lots of grain in them (i.e. flour).

If I was going to buy them, I'd pay £2-3.

hmcAsWas · 25/08/2018 19:27

Thanks all - that's very helpful

Does the same apply to bake sales when making cakes for sale at a fete? i.e. re the licence?

OP posts:
hmcAsWas · 25/08/2018 19:40

Can I 'give away' dog treats and request that people receiving these making a voluntary 'donation' (given that the fete is tomorrow and there is no time for licencing)?

OP posts:
AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 25/08/2018 19:48

What sort of licence would you even need?
