Hello

We are hopefully adding four new legs to our family soon, and while we will be prepared practically in terms of equipment etc, I wondered if you could share your wisdom and experiences of smoothly transitioning a dog in to your home with as little upset for them as possible?

(Cute puppy pics as a thank you to follow all being well!)

I wish I'd known that ... the friend who said to me 'it's like having a baby in the house again' wasn't joking! You do have to be prepared to put your life on hold for the first few weeks whilst you settle your new puppy in.

I would also advise its important that every household member reads the same training / care books/ info and that you all attend training together. A lot of our difficulties were caused by DH taking a less active role in caring for the puppy as we had him during school holiday so DS and I were home to care for him but this meant that DH wasn't completely on board with his understanding of puppy development and training methods.

Love this discussion. This is exactly what I need to hear right now! Had my 11 week pup for 3 weeks now. She's amazing, so intelligent, can be so cuddly and loving. We've had no major issues settling her at night or with toilet training. But its the constant biting and chewing EVERYTHING. Please tell me it will end?! Blush
