Missing our dog

We are on a family holiday and our puppy couldn't come with us. I am missing her a ridiculous amount and cannot wait to go home!
She's only 4.5 months old and I'm worried she'll forget us or like her temporary home better Sad
She is with someone we know very well and is having a fabulous time with some doggy friends - we get regular updates. But my god I feel miserable. I will never holiday without her again.

She won't forget you and will love you just as much when you get home.

I will warn you though that my dog is always a bit 'out of sorts' after being boarded even though he loves it there just because of the changes. However, after a day or two of being back to the usual routines he's fine.

I have reduced our holidays from 2 weeks to 1 week because I can't bring myself to be away from him for long as I always miss him.

Aah, bless you! I only go on holiday to dog friendly cottages in the UK for this reason. She'll be missing you too, don't worry.

Awww bless you all... My old dog passed away recently and we've just rescued a 6 year old dog. We've changed our autumn holiday abroad to a dog friendly holiday in the UK as we feel it would be too early to leave her. 😍

Smarty, what a lucky dog!

We had to do the same at 4.5 months and our pup was thrilled to see us when he got back and was completely chilled and nonplussed about the whole situation. We missed him but would do the same again.

We never put our old whippet in kennels in his life, and won't with this one either. Chase either stayed with us in pet friendly cottages, holiday parks and hotels, or stayed with my parents. They're getting on a bit now, so our new whippet Bracken will be coming with us when we go away.

We're hoping to go abroad some years, with the car and ferry with onboard kennel or petfriendly cabin just not in anything like the recent heatwave! We also want to do a rail tour some year soon, so if my parents or DD1 or 2 (both adults now) can't look after her then, we'll hire an inhouse dog sitter.

This was me a few weeks ago! We went to Greece for 2 weeks, and left little missy dog with a lovely lady who home boards. But my goodness we missed her! We couldn’t stop talking about her!
I tried to persuade Dh that our next holiday should be a dog friendly one in UK, but he says that isn’t his idea of a relaxing holiday Hmm

She's not in kennels, she's with a lovely friend who lives on a farm and has 4 other dogs. She's having a fantastic time but we will definitely do a dog friendly holiday next year
