Seizures

I'm wondering if anyone here has been through the same thing.
My 8 year old lab has started having very violent seizures,at first it was 1 per month.
The vet took blood tests and all clear, but the last few days he has had cluster seizures so has been put on epilepsy medication.
We have had our 1st 24hour seizure free time so far,so I am hoping the medication is working. The vet said that if the medication doesn't work, there is a chance it could be a brain tumour.
Going to buy a baby monitor today so hopefully can sleep through tonight.

My friends dog has seizures, but they are well controlled with the medication... very fit and friendly dog, you'd never know.

Hope your dog does well on them, fingers crossed.

25% of dogs with idiopathic ( we are idiots because we can not work out the pathology) epilepsy are not controlled by a single medication. A large number of dogs with brain tumours have their symptoms well controlled for a long period with epilepsy medication. So response to medication neither rules in or out a brain tumour. In a dog over 7 years old developing seizures that have no metabolic cause should ideally have an MRI.

So are you saying that if it's a brain tumour,he could still be ok lonecat?

Not forever, by the symptoms can be controlled for a good period of time. Some brain tumours can now also be removed.
