I've had to rehome my dog :(

I've been living in morocco for the past few years & while I was there I rescued a street puppy.
There's a rescue centre set up by a French woman & I saw online that she'd just found 11 puppies in the street. They were just a few weeks old & the children were all using them as toys (the way Moroccans treat street dogs is appalling) & throwing them about- so she took them to her place. Anyway, I saw about it online a couple of days later & I adopted one of them. Less than 1 week after I took her, the remaining 10 all caught a disease & all passed away.
As time went on, our relationship grew stronger & stronger. I took her everywhere with me & I loved her more than anything. She was my top priority.
There was warning signs since she was a baby though- she use to get extremely jealous of the girl I was living with & would constantly growl at her. Even trying to attack her on a few occasions.
Anyway, I had to go to England for around 1 month & I left her with the girl I was living with.
(Another thing to add- I use to own a hostel which I also lived in & so my dog was constantly surrounded by new people.)
Around a month before I left for England, she started barking excessively at anyone that tried to come into the house.
When I got back from England, she'd gotten so much worse. I couldn't even take her out anymore, as I got banned from the place I use to walk her as she started chasing & barking at a young girl (it wasn't in a playing way). I got banned from all the cafes I use to take her, as whenever someone tried to sit on a table close to me, she'd lunge at them. I don't know if any of you have spent much time in marrakech, but the places you can walk a dog are very very limited (there's no big gardens etc- just the one she was banned from).
Anyway, her barking started getting worse & worse & she started getting more aggressive towards people. On several occasions someone would walk past my bedroom door & she'd try & jump out & attack them.
In April my mum & 12 year old brother came to visit me... my brother & dog had been getting on great- sleeping together, playing together etc. Then about 5 days after they arrived, my dog was on the sofa with my our cat & my brother went to stroke her & she attacked him. The worst part was if I hadn't grabbed her & he hadn't fallen backwards, she wouldn't have stopped. He had quite a big cut on his stomach & we had to take him straight to A&E.
Then, in the morning I woke up early & took her for a huge walk & I sat down in a cafe. She'd been sat the relaxed for around 30 minutes & a man suddenly ran around the corner & she lept up & bit him.
When it's just me & her, she is the most loving, tolerant & gently dog. She truly is my best friend. She has helped me through some times that i wouldn't have got through without her. For a long time I was severally depressed, & the only thing that kept me going was her.

Anyway, 1 week after all of this happened, I found out I was pregnant.

I then had to leave morocco & go to England & work for a while... I left her with the woman I rescued her from. I was paying quite a bit of money for her to stay here every month, but the woman said she was really happy, so it was okay for me.

Anyway, as I got more pregnant I couldn't keep working as much (I work in hospitality) & so I found another (cheaper)place for her to stay until I came back & we could figure out what to do.

Anyway, within 4 days of being there, she's already bit 2 people (1 in the streets & the guys wife). He has children too. As soon as I found out, I immediately made my boyfriend go & get & her & take her back to the other place. But now the guys calling my boyfriend asking for her back & saying how much he loves her.

The place that she was staying at initially has said that they'll keep her indefinitely without me having to pay anything anymore...

I just feel so guilty. I feel like it's all my fault.

I know my pregnancy hormones won't be helping, but I just can't stop crying. It's like she has 2 personalities... & i just feel so so awful & I feel like I'm responsible for her being like this

Are there any dog behaviourist's over there? Might be worth a try.

Booboostwo · 16/07/2018 21:38

She has bitten numerous people. Whatever her problem is you are not managing it correctly. You know what you need to do and please do it before the next person is injured.

Haven't you posted exactly this before?!

Why have you posted this again? I'm sorry for your pain, it will get better. But this is a pretty awful situation.

I had to put my beautiful rescue girl down, she came with me when I married, by the time the second baby arrived and the other one was toddling she was a nervous growling mess, with stress mange, we tried rehoming her but she would neither eat nor drink. You know in your heart what has to be done.

I think that there's only one kind thing that you can do for this dog now. Get her back, spend a few special days with her and fuss her , then have her quietly PTS in your arms while she's happy. You just can't risk her with your baby and nobody else you could rehome her to will be so kind and patient if she bites their child. You've done so much for her and she's loved it. Don't risk an uncertain future for her.

Booboostwo · 17/07/2018 08:35

Come on OP, you can't keep posting about this dog and then running away. Having a dog PTS is an awful decision but you need to take responsibility for your dog here. Sadly you cannot manage her aggression, this is not your fault, very few people have the means and knowledge to manage seriously aggressive dogs, but you need to accept that. This dog will be PTS, the question is how many people she will bite before that.

Lucisky · 17/07/2018 08:55

OP you really should have this dog put down. How much better to do it in a managed and loving situation than the possible scenario of your dog biting another person, and someone deciding to teach the dog a fatal lesson. I would have thought that this was highly likely in Morocco.
Nearly all dog owners face having a much loved pet PTS. It doesn't make it any easier if the dog is old and ill, it is still your best friend and you still feel bad about it. To be blunt, you are trying to palm this problem off onto someone else instead of taking the actions of a responsible dog owner. Do the right thing.
