'Gastro' and now no poop?

Hoping someone may have had some experience.

My dogs had what we think was gastro, diarrhoea for a couple of days and on the Wednesday one of them had it with blood and mucus (all the way through not just a little).
Vet visits and antibiotics administered (ongoing course) for one of them, and diet of chicken or fish and plain rice for 10 days.

The other one was still in the 'korma' stage but I didn't know he had it until I watched for him to go to the toilet on Thursday (I pick up immediately). I gave him 2 of the antibiotics as he's had them before, and planned to take him Friday morning to the vet. Same special diet as the other.

On Friday morning no mess, both eating and drinking and seemed on the mend so figured I'd keep an eye on them over the weekend.

It's now Sunday and neither of them have pooped since Thursday morning. Both eating and drinking and seem absolutely themselves. At first I thought if they'd been suffering there'd be nothing to crap out so bound to have a day or so without, but I'm starting to be concerned. They are peeing. I'm on the fence as to whether or not take them tomorrow or give them another couple of days as maybe the rice is a bit much?

They will have completely emptied their colons with the diarrhoea so I wouldn't be overly concerned. I'd phone your vet tomorrow for some advice if you're worried. It usually takes mine a good few days after an episode of colitis to have a movement again. And on just chicken /fish and rice, there's not much wastage as it's easily digested.

Thank you for replying @HyacinthsBucket70

I guess they are older now (9and 10) so I get a bit worried a bit quicker. 3.5 days with zero poop seems so long, but I suppose if they are digestion easier food there won't be much wasted. With the heat as well I'm probably just extra cautious :)

Still no poop! But continuing the same!

If you're still seeing no output, I'd be tempted to ring the vet just for some reassurance.

Yes @HyacinthsBucket70 - was giving it today to see really and then will be calling tomorrow morning. I'm comforted by the fact they aren't swollen and still gagging for their food bowl, but I don't think I'll rest easy till they've 'been' :)

Dogs - I'm sure mine is on a mission to give me permanent grey hair. Mine has got an ulcer on his eye at the moment - after 2 days of cream it looked better but then he came back out of a hedge this morning and it was bleeding again. Back we go again.........we need our own chair in the vets Hmm

Ha! I know what you mean! Well I ditched the rice and gave them chicken and their usual dry food and we've had 2 monster turds today so it sounds like you were right. Your poor monkey, I hope that ulcer heals itself soon! Grey hairs and worry lines!!!
