Emergency vet, call in morning or wait and see

Need help!! My pup (7 months) hasn't kept down any meals today. He's just thrown up his dinner. He's drinking and playing as normal (for this heat). He's also eaten the various naughty household items he normal chews up through the day (today's casualties: coloured pencil and plastic hanger). Should I call out of hours vet or wait and see til morning?

They couldn't feel anything on exam on my dog initially as we thought it was the start of his inflammatory bowel disease again but overnight when he deteriorated they felt a mass the next morning when the rag had clearly moved.

Hopefully the injection will do the trick and it's nothing serious but if it continues tomorrow I would definitely go back.

MadCap · 06/07/2018 11:20

I definitely will. I'll have my beady little eyes on him all day. The vet did say to bring him back tomorrow if he's still not feeling better.

How is he now?

MadCap · 06/07/2018 22:49

The jab worked. He hasn't been sick again and he's held down the special food he had at dinner. He's had a few small but solid poos. He did sleep most of the day.

He's now wandering the house looking for mischief.

Fingers crossed he's ok! Just left my boy at the emergency vet hospital, they think he has an obstruction or pancreatitis. Took him this afternoon and they gave him an anti sickness jab but it didn't make any difference. It's a good sign it worked for your dog, hope he's back to his usual self in the morning!

BiteyShark · 07/07/2018 07:52

MadCap that's good news. Hopefully he's on the mend especially if he's looking for mischief.

Hope you get some good news jinglybell. Been there myself and it's not very nice.

jinglybell · 07/07/2018 15:59

Thanks Bitey, Madcap hows your boy today? Mine is still being kept in. Bloods ruled out pancreatitis and other organ/systemic issues so hes having xrays and scans to look at a possible obstruction.

Such a worry

MadCap · 07/07/2018 16:27

They do worry us so.

He's back to his normal happy self. Keeping him on chicken and rice today and kept him home from puppy class just to be safe.

Jinglybell fingers and toes crossed for you and your boy. Flowers
