New rescue lurcher - long line for recall training?

Sorry another question....
Would it be worth getting a long lead/lunge line to use whilst checking new lurcher’s recall/reinforcing training etc? She has been trained and rescue seem to think recall should be ok. Or do we just do lots at home and then try in a quiet area once name/bond is established? Hoping to do some whistle training. ‘Total Recall’ is in my amazon basket!
Just compiling a list to of kit we will need for her....😬

Do you have a harness? As far as I am aware you shouldnt use long lines on sight hounds attached to a collar as their necks are so delicate and they are super zoomy.

As long as you have a harness I would just buy a lunge line for a horsey shop/online shop. Amazon sell them I think.

Yes, I think you are right about only going on to a harness. Thin necks and fast runners! (Hmm)

definately a good harness - you won't get pulled over either. I would also recommend an extra short lead attached to the front of the harness until you know how doggie will react choose quiet times for walking
check fences and dangerous wire in your garden
raised bowls - they have long legs
bith mine were never very food obsessed - so recall (whistle is good) needs reinforcement a lot.

I only use long lines attached to a harness, and in the circumstances where dog isn't going to leg it, but might dance around close to you. Always wear gloves, and don't grab the line, stand on it - remember your dog will be able to hit 40mph in 6 strides!

Do loads of recall at home, establish the connection of whistle/return/ totally yummy treat with the possibility of something fabulous occasionally, then hire an enclosed field as often as you can to practice - or ask local sighthound owners for recommendations of places that are safe to practice in.

Yes I have been looking in to enclosed fields. Great ideas, thank you.
