Dogs and the weather

Our dogs really do not like this weather. They are currently lay on/under wet towels and are being intermittently sprayed with cold water by my mum 😁 They have cool mats but won't lie on them for some reason

My dog loves it he is waiting impatiently at the back door to go out in it he moves about thegarden to get abit of shade and we hose him off if he gets to hot but on the whole he is a sun worshiper.

DDog1 adores it, and is shuttling between his dog bed on the picnic table (as the chickens bother him otherwise), and another bed in the shade. Ddog2 is less impressed - but neither of them will use the lovingly filled paddling pool

PestDog is quite happy with the current state of affairs. Far better than the snow he tells me! He is, however, short haired and non brachycephalic.

Between keeping him wet (bottles of water / walks with swimming options) and / or going for shaded walk routes he's not been struggling actually he's under my duvet now because that's definitely the most sensible location

If they're that hot at 9am dread to think what they'll be like by mid-day, whereabouts in the UK are you?

adaline · 26/06/2018 11:23

It doesn't bother mine when he's indoors. He's currently sprawled next to me on the sofa snoring! But we don't take him out in this heat - he was walked at 8am and he'll go out again this evening but I'd never take him out for a midday walk or anything.

He hates water and won't use a paddling pool or wet towel to cool down on, so we make sure he has plenty of water and sometimes he gets ice-cubes or a frozen carrot/kong for his meals too.

Mine is fine indoors. I make sure all walks involve access to the river and are at least part under cover. He does flomp off to the shady bit of garden for a bit at lunchtime whilst I enjoy a sandwich in the sun. Our house is always cool somewhere though...
