6 months old puppy - Still very nippy!

We're really struggling. She got house training very early on. And can do 'sit'. But everything else is just waaaay off.

She still jumps up a lot. When I put my hand out to stop her she just basically jumps up and tries to nip. She doesn't actually bite, just a snap at very close range. I'm worried this behaviour won't go away.

She is still mouthing a lot - and this often gets quite nippy.

Will she calm down or do i have to accept this is how she will be? I have children aged 6 and 9 and I'm worried for them and their friends that come over.

thanks for any advise out there. I really appreciate it.

What kind of dog is she?
It's down to consistency and patience I'm afraid. When she jumps knock her away with your leg, not kick, just nudge so she can't get purchase and keep ignoring her till she is calm, then give her a treat.

Mine can still mouth occasionally at 10ish months, but only when over excited. We always 'stop the game' if nipping starts. There is definitely somebody in our lives who plays super exciting, jumping up type games with her....which doesn't help Confused. You could try turning your back when she jumps up. Only give attention and greet when she's calm. Nudging with your leg or pushing may look like a game to her

Forgot to say....my dog was super silly st 6 months! They can be a pain at that age in general, and seem to regress sometimes

6 months is still very young.

Mine calmed down at 5 months of age but then it all kicked off again around 6 months when he started to hit the adolescent period. It was as if I hadn't bothered training him as a puppy and his behaviour definitely regressed.

My advice is to continue to train and manage the bad behaviour even though they will try your patience at that age. Did you do any formal obedience classes? I continued obedience training thoughout and only stopped when he was well over a year old. It really helps to keep you focused and also to realise that behaviour will continue to change as they mature.

Mine was about 9 months before she completely stopped but then would nip when she jumped which has eased off since she turned one. Did it for the first time in ages the other day. She's now 20 months and STILL air snaps in excitement when she greets us. I think she's just so happy to be with us!!

Does she go to training classes? I would say that is an absolute must, plus daily training at home.

And not just for six weeks - training a dog is a daily exercise for life not just for a couple of months when they're pups.
