Doggy Hayfever

Just after a bit of advice or personal experience really. My lovely 9 month old lab has been sneezing and snorting very frequently over the last 2 days. She's also been scratching a fair bit, have had a look where she is scratching and skin seems to be intact, can't see a rash.
She was snorting a lot overnight and kept me awake (she sleeps in a basket by our bed).
I phoned vet who says probably hayfever, pollen count is very high right now etc. Vet has said to give some Piriton for a couple of days to see if it helps.
Only thing is she's really not her usual self, she seems quite tired and not full of her usual puppy beans. She had a 15 minute play on the field this morning but it was a bit half hearted (usually she'll play forever and we have to stop her so she doesn't get over tired). Since then she's pretty much slept, only showing the odd bit of interest in playing for a few minutes only.
This time of day she'd usually be whining by the door ready for her afternoon beach walk.
I know the Piriton can make them drowsy but she's been like this all day and the vets only just got off the phone so I haven't given her any yet.
Do you think it's normal for them to feel tired with hayfever?
Sorry for such a long post.

If she's drowsy like that before the piriton I would be a little concerned. Is she eating and drinking normally and passing motions as usual?
Is she up to date with flea treatments?
Might be worth giving her a bath with a good anti itch shampoo
propooch.com/collections/all/products/oatmeal-dog-shampoo
and if the itching continues, I cannot recommend this oil enough, it's saved my dog who suffers from hayfever

I wouldn't worry right now, give her another day and see how she is. she might just be feeling a bit miserable like us humans do when we have bad hayfever.

Thank you for your reply. Yes she's eating and drinking as usual and doing her business with no problems. She's peed plenty of times today. She has the oral flea tablets as prescribed by the vet and hasn't missed so hopefully is fully covered. I'll see how she goes today and if no better tomorrow will get her checked over I think.

I think that sounds like a good plan.

I'm sure that she will be fine :)
