Suddenly gone back to chewing everything at almost 2 years old

I thought we were passed this. He is a big strong dog so when he chews stuff, it's destroyed in seconds.

Only change is that we have increased his walks and indoor enrichment activities (kongs etc) so I don't think it's boredom. Everytime we have been to the vets they have said his teeth are amazingly clean and healthy.

He has plenty of toys/chews/bones/roots etc to chew on but is going for my kids toys, books, my shoes etc

Is he overstimulated and excitable? Maybe he needs less to do, so he can calm down. Does he do it while you are there or when you are out? It may be attention seeking.

Firstly can you move all the things out of his reach that he has suddenly started chewing so it doesn't become a habit.

Agree with PP on the possible over stimulation as you said you have upped exercise and exciting things. My dogs behaviour will deteriorate if over stimulated, for example if we have been for a really exciting long walk he comes in and has a bit of a zoomie like a puppy before managing to calm himself down.

Do you keep the other chews out all the time? I only bring some out when I want to keep him occupied otherwise they get 'boring'

The only things that keep our beagle amused are kongs, antlers, pigs ears and those rope pulls.

But like a PP said, he also goes bonkers if he's over-stimulated. He needs enforced quiet time in the evening otherwise he just barks and chews everything!
