Hi.
We are looking for a second dog to be part of our family in the very near future.
I am seriously considering a cockerpoo.
(I know they are a crossbreed, designer mutt, whatever some people wish to call them so please don't feel the need to remind me of this, thank you!)
I just want to hear from people who own one and pro's/con's (so to speak)

Thanks in advance. ; )

Mine is a two year old springer/lab/collie cross miniature poodle...so that served me right😬 Very different and much harder work to previous pedigree pups and has needed daily training and a lot of input.
Pros..super friendly, eager to please, playful, barks very little, highly intelligent and trainable.
Cons...needs daily grooming to avoid matts, regular haircuts, is easily over stimulated.
I was going to put, needs calm consistent routine and training to avoid over stimulation as a con but thinking about it her quirky nature has taught me a lot about dogs, hopefully made me a better owner and more considerate towards other dog owners.
As pps have pointed out, you don’t know which traits are going to be strongest in a cross breed. My girl has the prey drive of springer/collie but fortunately not the stamina and is happy with approx 1 and a half hours a day walking mostly off lead. She has the poodle brains , loves games of hide and seek, tuggy, ball and the poodle coat but once taught to relax is happy to be left for a few hours and likes to chill out around the house now.

We have a 2.5 year old cockapoo and she is definitely not needy! I did post on here a while ago about how independent she is and definitely not a lap dog!
Loves being in the same room as us but does her own thing.

I don't know that you can sum up a breed as they are all so completely different. We love ours but she's not a cuddles dog.

This ^
Even with pedigrees although they might share traits at training it's very clear each individual dog definitely has their own personality and behaviour. I therefore imagine with cross breeds the variations are even greater.

I have a 2 year old cavapoo and a 1 year old cocker spaniel. So I can kinda of help.

Our cocker is a show type cocker rather than working. From our understanding that makes her much easier to have as a pet. We don't find her destructive or hypo. She has her moments but she is a puppy.

So if you can find out what the parents are, I would suggest getting a cross of a show cocker spaniel.

We actually got our cocker first as a puppy, and we adopted our cavapoo. They absolutely adore each others company. They are very affectionate and loving dogs. I am happy we got a second dog as they play together so much.
