DDog has had the squits since Thursday morning (been to vet today). We've been being sensible dog owners and giving her small amounts of plain food. Today on our walk she dived into the bushes and emerged with something in her mouth. I panicked, thinking five day old fried chicken or something, and shouted 'No!' She froze, and I retrieved the something from her mouth. It was a donut with icing and rainbow sprinkles Sad

I threw it away. I have never seen a dog look so devastated. Two hours on and she's still crying on and off. She's lying on the sofa with her back to me. How can I explain? Sad

Yes you should pack your bags right now Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/06/2018 19:47

Just tried to stroke her and she flinched!

On a serious note are you sure she hasn't hurt herself diving into the bushes.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/06/2018 19:58

Bitey yes, positive! She's just very, very good at holding grudges (more long grass than bushes).

Ah BiteyDog always forgives me when I get his ball out Grin

Those bushes shall be checked for doughnuts every single wlk from now until forever.

They shalt be known as the perpetual bushes of the mystical ring doughnut and serve as an eternal reminder of your wanton and devastating cruelty.

fleshmarketclose · 08/06/2018 20:02

Haha can we have a photo? I love Eric's seriously miffed face so much I offend him on purpose occasionally.

RadioDorothy · 08/06/2018 20:04

Hahaha wow she is holding a serious grudge! Mine would have forgotten it by now.

Joking aside, is it generally unusual for you to shout "No" with that amount of urgency? If so, maybe she is reacting to that!

My dog is so used to getting yelled at (be quiet, get down, get out, stop, no, wait, shut up, let go) that she's pretty thick skinned. Grin

FissionChips · 08/06/2018 20:06

That sounds so wrong BiteyShark WineGrin

BiteyShark · 08/06/2018 20:07

FissionChips haha yes I can see that reading it back Grin

I removed a very long stick from my dog last night just before bed, and put it back in the garden. FIRST THING he did when I let him out this morning 10 hours later, go straight for the same stick and triumphantly carry it back inside. Hmm

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/06/2018 21:02

Bitey Good to hear Grin Hope you cup it firmly.

Radio it is actually rare, you're right. Tbh, I think a lot of it is general feeling sorry for herself.

OHH! Mine also hold a good grudge. Whilst you’re reporting can you report me for giving my dog a spot-on treatment?! They’re very disappointed in me. One of my dogs, when she’s miffed, will actively not acknowledge your existence- peasants that we are.

Ylvamoon · 08/06/2018 22:03

JesusInTheCabbageVan I see only one solution: but a fresh donut pink icing and rainbow sparkles

ApolloandDaphne · 08/06/2018 22:17

You bad, bad dog mummy!

CMOTDibbler · 09/06/2018 07:32

One of mine has never forgotten the glorious place where he once found an intact- though flat and dusty- kebab. The location always needs a careful check, so a doughnut would def get the same

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/06/2018 11:27

Ylva hopefully her stomach is on the mend, if so I'll take her to the farmer's Market tomorrow and buy her something special Grin
