This will either depress me or will make me feel less alone haha...
I've been getting up between 5/6am for over two months now, with zero lie in, weekends, bank holidays etc etc and it's starting to take its toll :(
I don't mind the normal weekdays as much but the weekends and bank holidays are a killer.
Have to get up as the pup needs the toilet and then wants feeding.

I would LOVE to get up at 7

At least he sleeps through the night now without any fuss, that's took some time as well but we got there in the end :)

Ours goes from whatever time we go to bed (between 11 and 12 usually) to whatever time we get up, so anytime between 7 and 9.

I think we lucked out with a pretty relaxed pup, but there were a few training things we did that definitely helped. He sleeps in a crate, so right from the start we taught him that being quiet in the crate gets him let out, which means he doesn't whine. We were also pretty strict about the 15-20mins after we let him out, in not giving him much attention and not feeding him. He gets let out, goes straight outside for morning wee/poo, then back in and we ignore him a bit while we get our own breakfast ready. Once we've had our food, then he gets attention and his own breakfast. It means the start to his morning is pretty dull for a short time, so he doesn't wake us up to be fed. Now that he's nearly 9 months and in a good routine, we're a bit more slack on this second part, but generally the rule still applies that we eat first and he eats after.

Maybe some of that might help? Good tip from pp about the alarm as well.

Goes to bed when I do (usually about 10.30pm) gets up (reluctantly) when I wake him up - 8am usually, midday on Sundays! I'm lucky I have a dog that loves lay-ins as much as me!

Occasionally he will want to get up earlier for a wee, but then will happily go back to sleep. I've found that if he does get a bit restless on the Sunday morning, if I let him up on the bed he is so grateful to be there that he will go straight back to sleep Grin

Nesssie · 29/05/2018 10:16

He's 4 years old and I do a lot of running in the evening with him though so he's probably shattered by the time we go to bed..

elQuintoConyo · 29/05/2018 10:18

We take the bins out around 8pm and she'll have her last wee then go to bed.

She wakes at 8 when our alarms go off (if we wee in the night she might lick a hand as we go past!). We open the door to the garden byt she won't go out until after breakfast! I think she has hollow legs to store all her wee!

elQuintoConyo · 29/05/2018 10:22

Oh, she's 2.5yo medium build sighthound. she has 2 walks a day of between 1-2 hours Each offlead.

pinkhorse · 29/05/2018 10:29

Mine goes to bed when we do so about 11ish and gets up when we do at 7ish. Dss stayed here the other weekend and didn't get up until 11.30am and the dog never made a noise and waited until then to get up!

MRSJWRTWR · 29/05/2018 12:25

Fast asleep by 8.30pm and have to pick him up and dump him in the garden if I think he needs a wee. Then sleeps right through until at least 7.30am even though we are up at 6am during the working week. Doesn't rush to go outside either, must have a cast iron bladder! Except for yesterday, I drifted down stairs at 7.30ish, to find him out of his bed and practically bouncing on the spot. Opened the door and he ran straight outside and must've peed for about 3mins solid.

turtletime · 29/05/2018 13:18

I know how it feels, my boy was such a lousy sleeper that we used to text each other and have the TV on subtitles to avoid waking him (seems absurd now). When he was a puppy I was grateful if he slept in until 6 AM. But now he wakes up at around 10/11 (his majesty has to be woken up), if we didn't he could easily sleep until 1 or 2! He is fairly knackered at the end of the day after his long walk in the fields so has to be carried to his crate upstairs at around 11pm (all 34 kg's of him).

Oh, can we have a pic please, had collie/gsd, sadly passed 3 years ago now, but we loved the bones of him. He looked mostly gsd, tan and black.

Thank you Smile

General snooze most of the evening. Goes to bed in the kitchen around midnight.

Brief waking for a wee outside when DP gets up around 7 and then sneaks upstairs to join me where he'll sleep to 9.30am if given the option!

jubbablub · 30/05/2018 05:49

We have been so lucky. He tends to put himself to sleep at about 10 and then is up anywhere from 6-9 depending on alarms.

However, we’ve never needed to take him out for a wee in the middle of the night. Sometimes in the morning if it’s too cold, he’ll refuse to go outside and will happily sleep under the bed until 11am without having peed. Very lucky to have a dog with a bladder of steel!!!

Steeley113 · 30/05/2018 05:59

Last wee just before we go bed around 10ish normally but can be later if we stay up. He ‘creeps’ (all 6 stone of him) into our bed at around half 5/6 and happily will stay there until whatever time we wake. Usually 7/8ish but if we’ve been lucky enough to have a kid free night, can be as late as 10!

PeachesPlumsPears · 30/05/2018 06:40

In winter, the older dog goes to bed straight after dinner (6pm). I have to carry him out around 8pm for last wee. Very lazy - will refuse to get up and will ignore you unless you say 'treats' and then comes rushing out. Grin
The younger dog will stay with us until we go to bed - although you can tell he wants to go to bed as he will keep walking around and staring at you.

Everybody must wake up around 6am (5am in summer) as the older dog will bark until we all get up so we can take them for a walk.

Rainbowrhythms9 · 30/05/2018 06:51

My dog does't do early mornings! Goes out for last wee about 9pm, but won't wake up until at least 8/8.30...even if I'm up early doing some work. Sometimes he even goes and hides when I'm up because the light bothers him. In fact he's snoring next to me on the sofa now!

Candyflip · 30/05/2018 07:00

He usually goes out for his last pee at 10/11, although if DH isn’t here I often forget. He then gets up at whatever time we get up. 8 ish on workdays and anytime up to 1pm at weekends.

bluetongue · 30/05/2018 09:08

Mine often takes himself to bed (my bed Blush) before I go to bed. He’d happily have a lie in every day and last weekend stayed in bed until 11am on Saturday (when I got up) but will need letting out for a wee at some stage. On the flip side when he is awake he’s a canine whirlwind of energy. He’s a 1 year old whippet.

RedHelenB · 30/05/2018 20:28

Bed 10.- 11pm and then doesn't stir till we open the kitchen door between 6 30 - 8 30 .

CMOTDibbler · 30/05/2018 22:47

My big dogs go up to bed (with ds) at 8, get up at 7 or later if he's sleeping in.
Foster puppy who is 4 months goes out last at 10 or 11, gets up at 7 with possibly one toilet break in the night. My pups sleep in a crate with a blanket over it so its nice and dark, and if they need to go out at night they get told night nights when they go back in and minimal lights/chat

spidereye · 30/05/2018 23:32

My rescue girl is a lazy, bugger up to bed with me at 12am. pops down with DH at 6am if she needs a pee and comes straight back up to sleep until whatever time I get up (could be 10am at weekends) Mostly, she doesn't need a pee at all and just stays in bed!

Nonagoninfinity · 31/05/2018 05:27

I'm another one with a lazy rescue. She's 2 and tends to take herself off to her bed (in our room) at about 9pm. I call her down for a last wee at 11 ish then she goes back to her bed again (sometimes after a REALLY annoying bark in the garden Blush).

At some point in the night she magically transports herself onto our bed. In the early days I'd notice and send her back but she's just got super stealthy!! She sleeps until we get up at around 7 but if she can will go back to bed again at any point and for as long as she can get away with!

When she's out she is the life and soul of the Doggy party and tears around like a loon with her mates, but she morphs into a sloth at night which works for me!

Mamaryllis · 31/05/2018 05:38

I have Labradors. They get up briefly for breakfast and dinner, and sleep most of the rest of the time. I try and lever them awake about 10pm to pee, but it's 50/50 whether they can be persuaded...

RoystonVaseySmegHead · 31/05/2018 06:37

My two dogs have been here a week and they go to bed between 11 and 1am then theyre up between 4.30 and 5.15am... if this carries on for another 2 months ill turn into an actual zombie 😴

Iamblossom · 31/05/2018 07:45

10 week old black lab.

Sleeps for exactly 6 hours and no more.

So I or Dh are up for the day at 5am.

It is exhausting.

I am hoping once he can be walked last thing (another month!!!) he will go for longer but he needs a wee as soon as he is out of his crate so I guess he just can't hold it any longer. Confused

Iamblossom · 31/05/2018 07:47

My year old Daxie however goes to bed with me at 10ish and sleeps till I get up. Perfect.

Outfoxed · 31/05/2018 07:50

Goes to bed with me at 10, wakes up at 6ish, then when my husband gets home from working nights at 9ish she goes back to sleep with him, emerging occasionally to go for walks, and then wakes up again at 3/4 when he does. She’s lazy.
