Hi. Just wondered if anyone could give us some tips please. We have our DD's Scottie staying with us for a week. All his food has been measured out and is given twice a day. However, he does not appear to be a good eater, maybe he misses his owners, and just wondered if there is anything we could give him to ensure his diet isn't going to be too terrible whilst he is in our care. I put the food down in the morning and its sometimes there still by mid afternoon. Don't want to fill him up with rubbish. Did try a bit of weetabix with milk this morning but he didnt finish it.

Don't give the dog wheat or milk!
I would stick with his usual food but add a flake (small amount) of cooked chicken - Pre cooked supermarket fine not the processed sliced for sarnies though. Mix it in very very well by hand.
Serve a slightly smaller than usual amount and put it on a flat plate so dog can see whilst eating.
Leave food down for 15 mins and if foods not eaten. Take the dish away dump food. Try again next feed time.

Scotties are a lovely breed but known as a bit introverted and one-man dogs. They are quite OCD. Dog will be a bit stressed. Lots of strokes and reassurance.

Don't leave it down. If he doesn't eat it in 10 minutes then take it up. Does he seem well in himself?

Ive got a Scottie, he's a bit of a fuss pot. If he gets given chicken or anything particularly tasty, he will turn his nose up at his usual food for a few days after. Please don't give him weetabix or milk or anything like that again. He will eat when he's hungry, he really will, he's probably just a bit grumpy and pissed off that his owner isn't around. They can be quite high maintenance, Scotties Grin
