Any vets around?

13 week old puppy, has had diarhea for a couple of days. Saw vet Thursday when first started and they said to keep him hydrated and have us some probiotics to put on his food.
Still has diarhea but seemed a lot more his self today.
That was until about ten minutes ago when out of no where he suddenly vomited which smells like faeces.

I've called the vet and we are currently getting everything together to take him there but has any one experienced similar?

Could be lots of things so you are doing the right thing by taking him to the vets. It might be an upset stomach, infection, eaten something, blockage etc.

It's awful when they are poorly and we have been there so many times myself (had just about all of the above). Hope he recovers quickly.

Dog sick does smell like traces. At least my pups did when he was car sick. Has he been wormed?

Babyroobs · 20/05/2018 23:47

Faecal vomiting would indicate some kind of blockage. Could he have swallowed anything he shouldn't have ?

Floralnomad · 21/05/2018 07:52

How is he this morning OP ?

Sorry for late update, vet did a full check over and thinks he may actually have eaten his own poo..... delightful.

Diarhea has stopped and he actually seems back to his normal troublesome self today Grin

My ddog regularly eats any poo he can get hold of! Getting a bit better now he's getting older.

Worm him. He could be riddled. The roundworm passes through the placenta and through the mother's milk. You never really get rid if it as it remains in their muscle in what is known as the inhibited form. As it migrates to the gut you can clear it from there only. Pups can have a whopping worm burden so use something from the vet like Panacur at the correct dose rate for their age. They can vomit their own faeces if their gut is very irritated as you can get reverse peristalsis the full length. Worming is the first thing to think of here. If the diarrhoea persists or turns to scours (virtually just water) take him in for treatment and a drip. They can dehydrate fast when young and in hot weather.

He's already been wormed, last dose was about 4 days before this all started

What was he wormed with though? If it's something from the supermarket or even a pharmacy it's unlikely to be adequate. You won't do any harm with Panacur.

If I'm completely honest with everything g going on I can't remember which tablet it was, the vet prescribed it and it can o it be brought once the puppy has been weighed and checked over by a vet first. They did tell me it was the most effective wormer on the market for a number of variations.
