We are taking FluffyPup away on a caravanning holiday next week. Any survival tips? I’m taking his crate for nights/busy periods, a few toys, I’m just nervous i guess. And he’s only had his first jab.
TIA.

Also taking blankets, do you think I should buy some calming spray for them? I just don’t want him to freak out being in a new environment.

I’ve never taken a puppy as young as that away but I’ve never had a dog particularly stressed by being elsewhere, they pretty much go, you’re here, my bed is here, there’s food... yep, I’m good. Sometimes in a different order right enough depending on the dog, lol.

My pup went in caravan at an early age and was pretty much fine. He was a little unsettled and I spent a lot of time outside waiting for him to wee!

Hi. We have just returned from 3 night caravan trip with 11week old pup who had also just has his jabs. As above really plus:

-great chance for socialisation with othe dogs if vaccinated.... Good bad and grumpy ones too

  • hard to keep him off the grass re not being fully protected. We took a blanket around with us which helped
  • made a pen from wind breaks for toilet area.. Worked well for 2 days but he had 3 ways to escape by day 3.....

Overall we had a great time but it will be better next time when he can go on walks etc. good luck!!!

Day 1 went well. He was perfect on the trains, slept reasonably well in his crate and I’m looking forward to today.
Only thing is he’s a bit big for the sling, plus I don’t want him to get too hot. he had to have first jab twice so do i take the chance? Can any vets help?

As far as jabs go, the diseases we worry about (parvo/distemper) comes from other dogs, direct contact or through faeces/urine.
So if you make sure he doesn't eat anything on the floor (grass etc) and doesn't drink from any other water source (communal dog bowls, puddles) then you should probably be ok for short walks to give your arms a rest!

I'm not a vet though

Can you phone your vet for advice?

We are home now, Archie was a brilliant boy on holiday. I’m so pleased, had a great time and so did we.
