6 weeks late for annual vacs?

We've had a pretty rough couple of months with a miscarriage, chicken pox and the flu and just realised DDog should have had his annual check up and booster about 5 weeks ago. Just rang the vets to book in for next week and lady was very off saying it was already late and did I really want to wait another week. Anyone been in a similar position? Is it really that dangerous to go 6 weeks over?

It's only dangerous in that the dog could be unprotected in that time. But it will also potentially be more costly for you as depending on which vacs/boosters it is, if it goes over a month overdue, they sometimes have to restart the vac scheme which will mean more injections and more costly trips to the vets.

DDog went from initial puppy vaccinations to almost 2 without having any boosters (don't judge me, he wasn't mine then!). He lived to tell the tale, and didn't have to restart any vaccinations.

Get it done as soon as you can, but don't lose sleep over it.

Vets have told me before that up to six months of the due date is still fine.

My previous dog was twice late with her boosters because she was ill and vets said not to do them yet until she was better. I doubt it is a problem. However, there is at least one vet who comes on here so you might get a professional opinion shortly.

It’s not dangerous at all

There’s no such thing as boosters. You can’t boost immunity, and after the puppy vacc’s vets claim their immune. So they’re either immune or they’re not - if they are then boosters are pointless. If they aren’t immune, why are the claiming them to be?

What IS dangerous is giving them all the vacc’s when there’s NO need.

The latest vaccination protocol says immunity lasts for years and only the Lepto booster needs doing more often.
Why are vets not telling owners this? My vet agreed that our dog needed no boosters this year but would need the Lepto next year.
Look up the scientific facts, not people’s opinions.

We’ve never had the annual jabs. Our vet friend said it was a waste of time and she never did hers either.
