1 year old lab.

Dosey DH forgot to buy her food, so this morning he popped to the local shop and bought her some cheap crappy Wagg food for breakfast. Fed her at about 8am.

She has also managed to squeeze past the baby gate and eat a bowl of dry cat food. She also has a taste for cat poo.

At about 5pm she threw up what looked like undigested food.

She has since thrown up about 10 times if not more. Now just bile.

She doesn't look sorry for herself, she now just wants us to feed her.

I would rather starve her overnight if I can.

No diarrhoea, just vomit.

Do I need to contact emergency vet?

I have offered her water.

How is she this morning Party?

Definitely sounds like a visit to the vet is in order.

Thanks, she was completely fine today. She had her chicken and rice for both breakfast and tea. We gave her breakfast in 2 small lots.

No vomiting etc. I was quite prepared to take her to the vets today had she not been back to normal.

Our vets are very good and know her well (she had problems when she was a pup with Neospora) but they werent too concerned about the vomiting in previous visits.

If it happens again without there being a change of food I will take her.

Hello! Glad she's feeling better! Just wondering, do you know why she vomits once a week? Seems a little strange that's all! What type of food does she eat? Pedigree/ bakers etc?

Partyfops · 10/04/2018 21:07

We think she vomits because she eats cat poo in the garden. She had a very sensitive stomach.

She normally eats James Wellbeloved which is hypoallergenic.

Aw bless her! We used to feed our dog on that and he was sick, not himself for a while! We tried him on bakers then and he's been fine ever since, much cheaper tooSmile

Partyfops · 10/04/2018 21:13

We think it was the Wagg food yesterday. The emergency vet wasn't surprised.

She is fine on James Wellbeloved luckily.

A couple of the things spring to mine.

Firstly, if you say she is sick once a week then she could well be eating too quickly for her system to keep up. Labs are renowned for being quick and greedy eaters, which may be why she seems to be regularly sick. Get her something called a Gobble Stopper, I use one (purchased on eBay) for my greedy dog. Size medium or large depending on bowl size. That will really slow her eating.

Secondly, changing food like that is virtually always going to make them ill. I would starve her to ensure she hasn’t got a bug or something similar and then keep, strictly, to her food. If you guys do forget maybe you could set up a regular redelivery? Amazon prime or something?

Hope she feels better soon!

Partyfops · 10/04/2018 21:22

Thanks, she has one of the slow feeder bowls already.

She is not normally sick just after she has even, often a number of hours later.

If you're sure that she's sick down to eating cat poo can you not address this? Muzzle her every time she's in your garden or remove the poo if you know where it is

Glad she's feeling better.
