We have an 8 year old staffy. I am at my witts end and unsure what to do. He suffers with seperation anxiety. Not with me but my partner. Since having DD almost 2 years ago he has slowly got worse. Over the past 6 months its got out of control, if OH comes home and goes out again he will wee and poo in the kitchen. I'm sometimes up cleaning the left overs of poo of the kitchen floor in the early hours. I say left overs because he has started eating it!! I have been told to put pineapple in his food and he should stop that so going to try that. But he can be let out and walked and still do it in the house. He's also started chewing DDs toys even if we put them away, he will always have chewed something if we go out. He is on steriods and special food so cannot change his food. Can anyone offer any advice?

My dog hates cars too. We take her before 7am across the road to get to the field so there are fewer cars. Or if it’s a busier time we drive places where she can walk stress free. There are always solutions if you want them.

OP doesn't seem to want options.
Walk it more.
More training.
Don't leave a dog with separation anxiety to get upset.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/04/2018 18:38

Can you try a harness to stop the pulling?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/04/2018 18:39

Or can you drive to park where you can walk the dog and push the buggy safely?

SamanthaH92 · 08/04/2018 19:05

Excuse me wolfiefan how do you know we don't drive?

Where did I mention driving? Confused

SamanthaH92 · 08/04/2018 20:00

Well your arsey comment suggesting i didn't want options came after saying not walking him down busy roads where not an option. I wouldn't of asked and read through everyones comments if i didn't want help and advice.

You wouldn't give a litany of excuses if you wanted a solution.
Dog needs training and walking and not to be left. Simple.

Veterinari · 08/04/2018 20:17

STEroids could well be causing the poo-eating (hunger) and excess weeing.
Have you seen a Behaviorist?

Whatdoiladymcbeth · 08/04/2018 20:19

This is ridiculous.

The dog needs proper exercise and care. You’re at home all day but don’t have the time to take the dog out? Absolutely awful practice. No wonder the poor thing chews and toilets inappropriately. He is clearly stressed and you, nor your OH, are providing a reasonable outlet.

So thoroughly disappointing that you have an animal who relies solely on your family and you’re failing him. Rehome him to somebody who can and will treat him- away from your excuses!

SamanthaH92 · 08/04/2018 20:39

Whatdoiladymcbeth you clearly didn't read my reply about me not been able to walk him atm. I had pretty bad SPD. So no i cannot walk him.
