Can't be sure as I didn't see it!

Strange dog jumped at me, I petted it, it then bounced over to my dog and then I heard a Yelp and saw it run away.
I want to think my dog gave it a fright and that was the noise but I'm really worried incase she bit him.

Bit of history, victim dog is a bouncy, 6 month entire male and my dog is 6, no bite history, generally good with other dogs but a bit anxious and can be a bit growly.

She was attacked at about a year old and never the same since but
She goes to a home boarder regularly, staying and walking with lots of strange dogs and never to my knowledge had a problem.
She has a few doggy friends and gets on okay with most dogs she meets.

Sometimes, usually during the sniffing phase she'll suddenly get anxious and growl or lip curl or if she is playing chase and the other dog touches her she'll panic and do the above, but otherwise fine.

Worse with big dogs, bouncy dogs and groups.

She's not possessive of toys, she has never challenged another dog, bit them, started a fight etc and has good recall so I have never worried about having her loose or letting her off lead.

But today's events have got me quite distressed and anxious and unsure what my next steps should be.

Obviously, I don't want her injuring any one else's dog but I don't know if it would be a bit extreme to keep her away from other dogs now given she's usually okay and enjoys playing with them.

What should I do?

She may have just been teaching the puppy manners.

Is she insured? I do think she's just warning them tbh!

I did wonder this, I wish I had being paying more attention but it happened so quickly!

She is quick to correct rudeness and is very growly (but never bites) with jumpy puppies (very gentle with the more submissive ones) but where she can be very anxious aswell I have always worried about her escalating from a grow or a lip curl.

If another dog is continually jumping all over him my dog will give a warning snappy/yelpy kind of bitey thing but never actually makes contact with or bites. It’s my dog that makes the yelpy noise if that makes sense.

He usually minds his own business and will avoid other dogs at all costs, it’s only persistent off lead dogs that won’t leave him alone

He’s got a bit of arthritis and has been jumped on by so many out of control dogs that he’s a bit defensive.

We have an 11yr old beagle. She would do the exact same thing Your pooch did. She gives everything, person or dog, a wide berth unless she is in the mood for a sniff. We don’t know what happened to her because she was ok until she was about 2yrs old. She plays rough with a border terrier she grew up with and, if in the mood, she will run and play with others. I do think like everyone else your pooch was just saying ‘hang on, I don’t want to be bounced on’. Young males are very bouncy and like to try to exert authority. If you change how you are with her, you may find that she gets worse because she will pick up on your anxiety. If there’s no other times it’s happened, I’d put it down to pooch being in a bad mood. We all get them.

Eric did exactly the same the other day which for him is out of character as he generally likes all dogs. But this one particular dog bounced about and knocked him over and the next thing I knew he was snarling and had pinned the other dog down and the other dog was yelping.
He hadn't bitten the other dog at all I think it was a case of Eric putting him in his place after he'd knocked him over. It did sound nasty for the few seconds though and I was worried.
Thankfully the other dog's owner was pretty relaxed about it all and said that it was his dog's fault and Eric was just teaching him some manners.
Hopefully your dog was doing just the same and it sounded a lot worse than it was.
