WHY won’t dominance die??

I’m in a breed specific group on Facebook and whenever someone has a behavioural issue they ask for help with, without fail at least 2-3 people will say the dog is exerting their dominance and the owner needs to take back control. So then several people will point out that this is incorrect advice and then they just get laughed at because that’s ‘just your opinion’ Angry The pro-dominance people just refuse to accept that there is a different, a better, less harmful way to train and understand your dog Sad

It makes me so mad Angry I’m forever sharing this article but I fear it just gets ignored...

Probably because the pro-'alpha' people consider themselves to be 'alpha' and can't bear to have their own status reduced by letting go of the theory.

Likewise those owners who think their dogs should have to put up with all the pulling about and poking their children are allowed to dish out.

And the type who always spout that their dog ate x-amount of chocolate or raisins (or chocolate raisins!) every day for years and was fine, each Easter and Christmas when the poison warnings come out.

And those who say greyhounds 'love to race', all the owners and trainers love their dogs which all get retired to nice homes in the country and there's no welfare issue in the 'sport' despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary...

Constant frustration.
I'll add to that the owner of a large breed puppy I met yesterday who was proud to tell me she kept a rolled up newspaper specifically for whacking him when he sniffed at the meals she ate off her knee on the sofa :( Yep, that will go well.
