Harness help!

Can anyone recommend a harness please? I want one that’s comfortable for a dog that pulls but that doesn’t stop them from pulling, my terrier 95% walks on a loose lead but if he does pull I want it to not hurt him if that makes sense.

If it can be used in the car with a seatbelt attachment too that’s a bonus.

I am a massive fan of perfect fit harnesses because they come in 3 different pieces that you can buy in diff sizes to get the right fit for your dog.

We used one for our pully JRT and it has made the world of difference to how comfortable she sounds pulling (but doesn't stop her doing so). She just kind-of leans into the harness. It also has 2 d rings on the front and back so very flexible in terms of where you clip the lead/car belt.

I love the Perfect Fit too.

It isn't designed or tested as a car harness though.

My patterdale x has an Indi dog Houdini harness ,they are fabulous , wash well and very reasonable prices .

Car harness isn’t essential as he’s usually in a cage but he does love to be co pilot on short trips when my husband isn’t looking

Will have a look at the perfect fit now

Another vote for Perfect Fit. If you email them with measurements they will tell you what size you need (they come in 3 parts - my dog has 2 medium bits and one small).

My life has changed dramatically since buying the perfect fit Harness for my Terrier.. She can still jump but cannot lunge forwards. I have much more control over her now and she seems to enjoy her walks now that she is not throwing herself at every car, dog, person, leaf, butterfly, minuscule spec of dust, etc.

I tried 3 different harnesses for my staffie (one was Ancol) - the first two rubbed her raw under the armpits (where she is a bit thin on fur covering) though they were the correct size I ended up buying a fleece one from fleecedogharnesses.co.uk and it is lovely and there is a nice choice of colours too. I had also got her a car safety harness (Ancol again, I think) that doesn't fit comfortably either, so took the strap from that and just attach it to the fleece harness to strap her into the back seat.

The Hurtta y harness is a beautiful fit for my jrt (short haired, most harnesses and clothes tend to rub her sore). Will not hurt the dog's throat even if they pull due to the shape it is in front. Very durable yet lightweight. The newest model is even better because it has two clips in the "waist belt" which means you don't need to slide the dog's feet through anything.

My favourite is hati no pull harness. I struggle get a harness on right and I don't see that well. It is easy to put on . And he does not pull on it at all .
