New puppy - what do we need?

We are getting a Cockapoo this weekend - we have been to visit her a few times and she is the sweetest thing.
We both had dogs when we were children but this is our first hog as adults (we now have 9 and 11 yr old DCs).
What kit do I need at the beginning for the puppy? I need all the advice that you can give me!

They are all sweet when they are a few weeks old - it's only later that the trouble begins Grin

Crocs, a warm dressing gown and a torch - for night time toilet trips.

More kitchen roll than you think plus an enzyme cleaner for accidents.

A lead and collar to get her used to them in the house.

Someway to keep her secure and in one place in the house - crate, pen, baby gates.

A copy of Pippa Mattinson's 'The Happy Puppy Handbook'

A soft brush to get her used to being groomed while she is little.

Food - the same as she is on now, even if you plan to change her food later.

Somewhere for her to sleep - 2 or 3 vet beds are ideal as they wash so easily and you can switch them out quickly if she messes.

A camera at the ready at all times. They grow so quickly that within a month your little puppy won't be so little at all so you want to take tonnes of photos and video while she is small.

Crate to fit the full sized dog and a crate divider for now.

Several vet beds for the inside of the crate.

Chew toys

Loads of patience and gallons of enzymatic cleaner

Grooming tools, including a rate for when the puppy starts to moult.

Rake, not rate.

MissBattenburg has it pretty covered. I'd add zillions of poo bags, make sure that the kitchen roll is quality (Regina blitz is my preference), if you have hard floors then a squirty bottle of floor cleaner and a microfibre mop with spare pads, a dog whistle and Pippa Mattinsons book Total Recall, and for bedding I prefer fleece blankets as they are so easy to wash.
My puppies (I foster so have a lot!) learn to use dog bells on the back door very quickly to go out which is really useful.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions.
Do you recommend any particular type of enzyme cleaner?
A friend has a full sized crate. Is that sufficient. Where do I get a crate divider from? What do I need for the car? Can I just use a small crate?

Simple solution pet accident spray is what you want - its in a turquoise bottle.

If you know what the crate size is, then you can just buy a divider on ebay - they aren't very much

A small crate is perfect in the car boot

You'll need a crate divider, your dog’s crate should be just big enough for her to stand up, turn around and lie down in. If you let her in the entire space she is likely to use it as a toilet as well. As she grows move the divider.
Crate is supposed to be used a their 'safe space' and should never be used for punishment.
If you can, get her enrolled in some puppy training classes which are great for socialisation, but also good for keeping the whole family on the same page with commands.

Enjoy puppydom! It's a beautiful phase, but my god am i glad it's over!

I'm also getting a cockapoo puppy this weekend! Are you in wales by any chance OP? (But of a long shot, but wondering if they could be the same litter!)

We use a pet travel box for the car. It is a small plastic cat box type thing. He loves it and claimed it as his bed the first day. I put an old towel in the bottom. He is starting to get a bit big for it so am trying to get him used to his big boy crate now. Will probably replace it with a large plastic travel crate for the car in a week or two.
