Dog bed recommendations please?

Hi - can anyone recommend a dog bed please

DDog is a 7 year old Lab. She's not very big/heavy but I think she needs a better dog bed in the house during the day. (On hard floors)
DH has a thing about memory foam saying she'll overheat - but this is her day bed so I'm not sure?

Anyway - do I need to go £££ or are there some reasonable ones out there that aren't just squashy ones that are really thin?

When I was looking for a dog bed for my dog I found it quite difficult to find something that wasn't supposed to keep them 'warm and cozy' by virtue of some form of insulation. With a double coated dog that is more than happy to sleep on a cold kitchen floor I didn't want something that was going to make her hot.

Took me some time to find one that I felt would work for her. Went with the 'Scrufts Highland Box' bed. The bed is well made and comes in various sizes, I bought the medium for £24.99, the extra large size is £44.99, which I don't think is too bad for a big dog bed. Might be worth having a look at.

The bed is nice and padded in the bottom, but isn't too big and squashy, she doesn't like big and squashy - not sure from your post if you're looking for very squashy or nicely padded - and has edges that are, in my dog's opinion a perfect height for her to rest her head on.

She also has 2 good quality vet bed type beds, one upstairs one down, and because she loves her downstairs Scrufts bed so much I bought her one for upstairs too. Slight overkill, but she does like to move around while sleeping; she also likes to stretch out on the sofa.

Our lab loves a cheap memory foam mattress type that I got from Aldi. She seeks it out rather than random places on the floor.

Mine have been through tons of beds so last summer I invested in a Tuffies Waterproof Nest. They love it, it’s really comfy and easy to clean but it’s £££.

I get single hollow fibre duvets from Sainsbury's or Ikea and fold them in 4 and put into a fleece cover that my sis in law made. It has Velcro on the open edge to fasten it together. My 9 year old arthritic lab has 2 and loves them. They're easily washed too

I get mine from Treeline products on Ebay. They aren't expensive, last well, have spare covers, and come in sizes large enough for my hounds to stretch out. The memory foam chips give a decent space from the floor without the dogs sinking in

Thank you everyone - going to spend snowy Sunday looking at your suggestions

I have spent ££s on different dog beds and the ones he prefers are the cheap mattress type ones from eBay Grin
