my little dog has started shaking / trembling this afternoon and has thrown up .
I'm not sure what to do or how worried i should be ?
not had a dog before this one and haven't experienced illness .
walked him somewhere new this morning and hes always eating random crap off the floor , maybe hes ate something bad ?
Vets are shut .

Contact your vet, they will have an out of hours service. I would get him checked quickly as sounds possible that he has eaten something poisonous. Good luck.

thefootofourstairs · 24/02/2018 13:59

also me and dh have both had vomiting and diarrhoea for the last 2 weeks , is it possible the dog could catch it from us ?
He has just been sick again .
looking up the vets number and will ring in an hour if no better.

Very easy to get dehydrated with vomiting. I would phone the vets.

TheCrowFromBelow · 24/02/2018 14:06

Ring them now don’t leave it. He could be poisoned and acting quickly is really important. Most vets have an out of hours.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 24/02/2018 14:37

Ring them now. I've had to take another animal in today. Rang at 12.50, in at 2, which I was impressed by

Thanks for the advice , much appreciated . The shaking stopped soon after i posted and he seems to have perked up . I'm thinking it was the feeling sick that was causing the shaking ? not sure but i will keep a close eye on him and phone if he starts again .
I've only had him 7 months and i worry like hes my baby !

If you were genuinely concerned for his welfare, you'd have phoned the vets immediately for advice.
Just worrying and making excuses to delay doing anything practical about it isn't the sign of a good owner!

thefootofourstairs · 25/02/2018 13:51

of course i was genuinely concerned ! was there a point to your post ? other than to be judgemental and nasty . people like you really hack me off...

It sounds like he just ate something that disagreed with him and needed to get it out of his system. But it can be scary to watch.
Hope he's all better now!

For future reference, you can ring an out of hours vets for advice (although most the time they tell you to bring him in anyway).

Nesssie · 26/02/2018 10:58

My dogs a complete scavenger and if I took him to the vets every time he threw up, I might as well live there!

The longer you have him, and the more you experience, you get a bit more blasé about vets! I use to take mine in for every little thing, but have calmed down a bit now and monitor him before making any decisions.

Chapterandverse · 26/02/2018 11:55

How is your dog today?

thefootofourstairs · 26/02/2018 16:31

Thanks for asking , hes absolutely fine Smile
he has thrown up before but it was the shaking as well that had me wondering if i should be worried and ring the vets .
Nesssie , think that was it , once he had thrown up a few times he was back to his old cheeky self !
thanks everyone .
