personal question so fully understand if not many people want to share!

But how much would you say you spend per year on your dog? I've read anything from £800-1800.

Per month though? What are you feeding them? Sirloin steak?!

a bit late but i sat and worked this out for myself this morning so i'm sharing - 22kg sighthound here!

not including initial costs like collars, leads, bowls and beds:

food - £35 a month
insurance - £20 a month
vet plan - £10 a month (this includes quarterly check-ups, annual vaccinations and worming and flea treatments so we find this v cost effective)
poo bags and treats - £5 a month

so about £70 a month
x12 is £840

then we probably only spend about £20 a year on toys as she isn't really one to destroy toys.

be sure to factor in a dog walker though if you need one as they can double that figure. we have one currently who takes her out for an hour between one and three days a week as i am working two jobs at the moment, and that adds on approx £70 a month. i haven't included this in the above as it's only a temporary thing for us but it can get pricey! worth every penny tho.

@upsidedown

Per month ?
On what ?

Even Paris Hilton doesn't spend that much on her dogs and she has about a million.

Well I spend a minimum of £400 per month on our dog but day care costs. Although I was a bit shocked to find out we spend around £70 per month on food which is about what we spend on ourselves Blush
