Best dog clippers

Hi everyone!

If you diy groom your dog, what clippers do you use and what would you recommend for a shih-zu X poodle?

Was hoping to spend no more than £40ish for a good pair but after bit of research, didn't look like that will happen!

Normal human clippers (ones I use to cut DH hair) don't do much on my dog's fur... They seem to get caught in it more and I have to go over and over the same spot to get any results!

I had some £40 ones, but anything with a plastic guard will be completely ineffective. If you're going to DIY you need the interchangeable metal blades with different grades. I have a dog that needs clipping twice to 3 times per year, and I ended up getting these:

Hideously expensive, and you have to buy the blades separately at £50 a pop. And you probably need 2 blades - a #10 for sanitary areas and one other for the length of coat you want.
On the up side - they're rechargeable and super light, so no fighting with a cord and no achy arm, and they go through a coat like butter. We have 2 dogs, so I figured they'd pay for themselves in a year or two compared to taking them to a groomer.

I use them to clip a springer (face, paws, bottom) without any problems at all. But I am not doing anything fancy other than shortening and tidying the fur.
