Dog anxiety

Hoping for some advice. I have a 5 year old bichon who I have had from a pup. He has always suffered from anxiety but has got worse with age. I am at the point now that he is causing me stress and anxiety and I'm not sure how much longer I can cope.
Most of his anxiety is separation anxiety . I can walk him for 2 miles. Put him in the kitchen for 5 minutes whilst I run a bath for his muddy paws and he is phsycho- barking, jumping up the child gate and non stop whimpering.
If he senses that we are getting ready to leave the house he barks - non stop and runs around the house jumping at everyone.

I hate leaving the house and I am anxious about being out and leaving him alone as when I return he wees and poos all over my kitchen floor and treads in it. It can take me an hour to clean up.

I have tried training but it hasn't worked and I am thinking of enquiringly with the vet if medication to calm him down and relax him is a possibility- does anyone have any experience of this?

I am also worried that he will cause himself to have a heart attack

You need a registered and qualified behaviourist to come to your home and assess what the cause of the issue is and to help you rectify it.
Anti anxiety medication can help but only alongside correct training, it won’t work on its own.

I do hope you can find someone to help you soon!
