Puppy consistently barking

Our puppy is 7 months old and is now consistently barking. I mean consistently at everything and anything.

He is well excercised and stimulated during the day. Has access to all of the downstairs constant access to the garden, always fresh water and food lots of toys. I have taken him to the vets and they had pretty much nothing to suggest on the matter.

I am at my wits end with it and I'm sure our neighbours are too. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this and techniques to stop it.

Just to add the barking is a recent thing (about 4 weeks) and there have been no changes to routine or anything like that.

Anything changed in his environment? If the leaves are off your garden hedge for example so he can see people walking past? New household appliance that might make a noise you can't hear? Female dog down the road in season?

What breed?
When you say well exercised could be be too exercised? Getting hyped up.
What training do you do?
Tried brain games to tire him?
Does he bark in and out the house?
Is he shadow chasing?

Sorry for all the incessant questions. I posted them realised it looked really rude!
One last one. Is he barking at anything? Noises?

We solved Eric's barking at the same age by teaching him a command to speak and then one to quiet. But really once he had sussed the speak on command the incessant barking stopped because he only got rewarded for barking on command so he stopped barking for no reason/reward.
He only barks now if someone knocks at the front door as we don't tend to bother asking him to speak and he gets the reward instead for stopping when I open the door.

We got ours at 4 years old with some bad habits which included barking at almost everything. If he barked whilst outside, he was called in immediately (no more fun), if he barked at someone they turned their back on him, then rewarded him as soon as the barking stopped. It didn't take long for him to catch on, now he only barks at the doorbell (and weird noises in the middle of the night, which I'm fine with!).

I will try to answer as many questions.

He is a male rottweiler.

Nothing in his environment has changed other than the Christmas tree being up but that has been down a week now and the barking continues.

He has 2 walks a day morning and evening that are 1.5 miles each.

He is kept occupied during the day by me playing with him, he enjoys go find (I hide something and he runs off to find it) lots of kong toys filled with treats and frozen over and various other toys.

He only barks when in the house, when he's out on a walk he doesn't make a sound.

I have tried to teach him speak but it's the only command that he's not getting the hang of. He has mastered everything else we have taught him.

Can he see people out the window?

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 03/01/2018 14:44

He can see poeple out of the window but he barks even when there are no people walking past and when he's in different areas of the house.

Is he trying to get your attention? What happens if curtains are closed and radio on to drown out sound?
Are you working with a trainer?

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 03/01/2018 14:51

Originally I thought he was trying to get my attention but he's barking and when I go to him he just looks at me and wanders off. He will bark if I'm in the same room and it seems to be at nothing it's all just so strange.
He will also bark when curtains are drawn and if tele/radio/music is on.

We live in a quiet road aswell so there isn't a heavy flow of traffic or people.

That's why I took him to the vets to have them check him over amd the vet was happy with him and said everything is fine.

I am not working with a trainer at the moment (we haven't had to so far) but I think this barking is beyond me.

Training builds a bond with you and the dog. It also helps you understand them better. It has the added bonus of tiring them out and giving them an outlet for their energy. It's not just about stopping bad behaviour.
