Any of you allow your dogs to sleep on your bed and you wish you hadn't?

Mine does. Think it’s in the whippet bill of rights somewhere Grin

In his bed in our room until morning when he's allowed in our bed for a bit after he's been out for a wee, come back in and had his paws wiped (which he stands still and let's us do)

Elphame · 28/12/2017 18:15

Dog is not allowed upstairs. He has his own cosy bed in the kitchen.

When we had 2 dogs, a yorkie and a jrt, they slept on my bed. My oh and I sleep in separate rooms, but even so, I sometimes felt I was sleeping on THEIR bed. Times have moved on. I now have a super king all to myself, both those dear old dogs are dead and new dog was going to sleep in the kitchen. No chance. As a puppy I had her in a crate in the bedroom, but somehow (ahem) she never got downstairs, and sleeps cuddled into my back, which I like. At least she doesn't snore, unlike my oh.

Yes and no

I love ddog 2 in my bed - cuddle her like a teddy and she wanders out of the covers is she gets too hot

Ddog1 is a large breed - he loves to lie on the bed where he can but rarely stay very long.

Cocodog waits on our bed while we shower, jumps on to look out of the window when guests arrive ( we live in a bungalow) and comes back to bed with us to read Sunday papers. I figure bedding is easier to wash or replace than sofas. She is not allowed on sofas or chairs. Any dog we have had sleeps in the kitchen, of the last two, one became incontinent during her last year with us and the other developed dementia and was very restless at night. It would have been unfair to have them sleep with us all their life and then for practical reasons suddenly not.

Mupflup · 30/12/2017 08:25

Mupdog sleeps in her basket by my side of the bed, and she knows she's not allowed up. However if i go and slerp in the spare room (DH snoring or something) then she follows me and sleeps on my feet. She did it a couple of times without me realising til I woke up and now she thinks it's a thing...she was a bit confused when DH slept in there last week and wouldn't let her up on the bed, so she came trotting back to her basket by me. She's allowed on all the sofas though but we do have blankets on them at all times.

mustbemad17 · 30/12/2017 08:26

All my dogs bar one (i fostered) were allowed on the bed & the sofa. Only my bed tho, not DDs. I had a load of covers i used for the sofa, and the bedding just got changed regularly.

DoubleRamsey · 30/12/2017 08:27

Dog isn't allowed, but actually he doesn't want to either ShockGrin

Seriously though, he gets too hot. He likes sleeping on draughty floorboards under the table. He has a dog bed too. Hates being on sofa too. If we invite him up he will do it cos he is obedient, but he will sit there looking highly uncomfortable and then jump off almost immediately.

Funny animal.

Fatjilly · 30/12/2017 18:03

Cat and both dogs can sleep where they like. Older dog prefers his own bed next to mine but like to come up for a morning cuddle. Cat sleeps in various places depending on the weather. Youngest dog sleeps on my pillow!

Well timed thread!

Last night I let my little dog upstairs because she was upset due to the fireworks. She drove us bonkers! She laid on me, she laid on my husband, she laid in between us wagging her tail and snacking us both. She scratched every ten minutes. She kept waking us up with kisses. My husband woke up with her sat on his head at one point. When the alarm went off she was on the other side of me to my husband snoring in harmony with him. NEVER AGAIN!!

Dapplegrey · 01/01/2018 21:39

Both our whippets sleep in our bed.

Squirrel26 · 01/01/2018 21:57

Mine does. Once he’s on there he’s pretty much settled for the night and once I’m asleep I’m really not aware of him being there. I have washable blankets on the bed and my sofa has a removable cover.

Squirrel26 · 01/01/2018 21:59

He’s much less annoying asleep on my bed or on the sofa then he is pacing around the room loudly gnawing on a bone or chasing his ball under the sofa and barking for me to get it! Smile

Composteleana · 01/01/2018 22:03

My dog used to sleep downstairs but I was going through a very painful breakup and one night wanted the company/cuddles to keep the crazy brain away, and once he was in he wasn’t going anywhere! That was 9 years ago. I stopped it for a bit when I first got together with DP as he allegedly ‘wasn’t really a dog person’, now he loves the dog more than he loves me I think and I frequently find them curled up together leaving me with no space!
