Went to Greenwich park today for one of his regular walks.
He was playing like his crazy self with his dog friends.
On the way back to the car park I spotted a dog that looked very similar to him. He ran over and immediately started playing with this other dog. He was chasing, boxing, rolling and making loads of noise. He never played this mad with new dogs before.
I thought I was thinking I was seeing double the closer I got.
Got chatting with the other owner, asked how old he was and where they got him and that was when I realised they must be sibblings.
Really happy he's found his brother.

Cannot believe how alike they are, both physically and in their mannerism. Just wanted to share.

That's really lovely, I've often wondered how sibling dogs would behave if they met. Are you planning on meeting again?

rightsaidfrederickII · 10/12/2017 03:03

Oh bless

I doubt we'll ever find PestDog's siblings - too many previous owners and not enough back story - but he looked utterly ecstatic to see a dog that was the same odd cross and colouring as him, albeit a few years older. For a dog that looks confused when he sees himself in the mirror, I was surprised he seemed to recognise him!

That is lovely, please meet up again!

The couple was living in Kent but has recently moved to SE London so planning to meet more in the future.
I have asked the breeder about his sibblings but none of the others ever got back just to say how they were doing.

He's four years old so I doubt he would have remembered who the other dog was? He left the litter at eight weeks. I could understand if he left at a few months old and then met his sibblings a few months afterwards.

We have a lurcher and have ended up with her dm living with us. At first they had a normal dog to dog relationship but as the weeks have gone on they have become very close. Lovely to see.

That’s lovely Smile the other day my dog suddenly started pulling me to get over to another car in the car park at his favourite walk. I was a bit surprised as he normally doesn’t pull on the lead. It turned out that he’d seen a puppy of his breed (quite rare so he doesn’t often meet a dog just like him) and was desperate to say hello. He’s normally not wild about puppies either, tolerates them rather than encourages them, so it was doubly surprising!

That's lovely!!

My dog met up with his sister and mother. He got on brilliantly with his sister, but his mum 'told him off' and then showed zero interest for the rest of the day Grin

That's lovely. We met up with 8 of Wolfie pups siblings last weekend. It was lovely.

This is lovely. I often wonder about the family of my dog who is a rescue. He isn't great with most dogs but has taken a shine to the odd one here and there. I also wish I could see what he looked like as a pup. I have always said if I had 3 wishes one would be to have a good ole chat with my dog to find out where he came from and what he did before he came to me.

tinymeteor · 11/12/2017 15:44

That's so cool! We walk there a lot too - such a great park for doggy socialising. Meeting a litter mate is unbelievable though.

Yes, I had never thought of that as a potential wish but I always wonder whether fliphound misses her racing days or whether she's quite happy on the sofa. I'd love to be able to ask.

witchofzog · 11/12/2017 17:15

Flippety mine is part greyhound too. I just love the gangly buggers Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 11/12/2017 17:23

I have read that digs can recognise their siblings by scent even after years. I think he knew.

Camdenlife33 · 13/12/2017 04:47

I have always wondered if dogs would recognise their litter/littermates/parents once they go their separate ways and haven’t seen each other since puppyhood. That’s so cute
