had to take my 5 month old puppy to the vets again. He had swallowed something that was potentially quite harmful. The vet gave him something to induce vomiting and then something to stop further vomiting. we were there for about 40 mins and were charged almost £200 !! Can anyone who has had a similar experience confirm that this is a realistic price for this kind of treatment ? Yes I know I should sort insurance, just hadn't got around to it.

Yup, as others have said, the drug used is pretty expensive and no matter the dosage used, the rest of the vial will be thrown out (unless there was another patient in at the exact same time also needing to be made sick!) There will be a consultation charge on that too and the second injection to stop being sick, sounds a standard charge to me I'm afraid.

I took my dog to vet before Christmas suspecting she’d ingested hot chocolate powder, they induced vomiting at an emergency within hours appointment and found she hadn’t ingested any after all but still billed me £330, I’m about to start a change.org campaign to regulate vet prices as they’re currently not regulated.

What has the fact that she didn't eat chocolate powder got to do with the cost?
