Greyhound limping

Hi, my Greyhound walks around 4 miles a day during the week, probably nearer 7miles at the weekend ( quite a lot for a couch potato), she loves her walks but for the past 2 Sundays she's become lame on her left back leg and left front leg, she lays down for around 10 mins and then gets up and starts bouncing around again, I have a vet appointment for her later in the week but wanted to know if anyone has any idea what is wrong with her (she's a retired, rescued racer, 8 yrs old). Thanks.

That sounds unusual pattern of lameness. Some greyhounds can get corns on their pads which get sore with lots of road walking.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. She's walked on a mixture of fields and pavements, it seems strange to me that she goes down but 10 mins later she raring to go even doing zoomies around the garden when she gets home.

My 10 yo does that with corns. To check, gently rub a little Vaseline on each pad and if a circular, paleish ring appears it’s probably a corn.
That said, with the age and racing history it’s always worth checking out the joints for arthritis.

Thanks OneOfTheGrundys, I'll try that tonight, she's out with hubby in the peeing rain and howling wind, we're in Scotland, she hates rain during the day but doesn't mind it in the slightest at night, they really are a law unto themselves Smile

OneOfTheGrundys, what's the treatment for corns?

They can be cut out but my boys have usually worked themselves out. There must be some middle ground remedies tho!
How we love these lanky couch potatoes!
