Keeping puppies entertained - lets share ideas?

I have a 5 month old cocker x terrier. Hyper as ever most of the time.

We have loads of toys and are attempting to teach her to fetch. We use kongs and stuff them with puppy wet food.

Obviously she gets plenty of walks. She loves cuddles and will settle happily if somebody is sitting with her to snuggle up to. And will sleep downstairs on the sofa at night.

Just wondering if anybody has any other ideas or tips? I just want to make sure she is getting enough stimulation etc. We have another dogs she plays with too which helps. But once he has finished playing he wants to be left alone and gets annoyed if she doesnt do so.

Empty plastic drinks bottle with a few bits of kibble, it’s cheap and keeps them entertained for ages as they tend to squash it in their excitement and prevent the kibble from being easily removed.

Lots of ideas on Canine Enrichment group on facebook.

Puppy training classes were brill when my Lab was 6m, we would go once a week to learn new things and socialise then practice what we had learnt throughout the week. We did kennel club good citizen course followed by bronze course.

Second this. Just be careful re lids. Mine can get the lids off v easily and they are the right size to choke so he needs watching until that happens. By then he has squashed the bottle so the kibble is caught in there and I can take the lid away.

Cardboard boxes with treats hidden inside, plastic bottles, we have also knotted up old tights which have used as a tug toy. We also bought a charity shop large teddy for him to rag around and take out some frustration on shall we say!!! Hmm

I shake the treat fragments and crumbs from my treat bag into a canvas or paper bag and put a few bits of recycling in there as well - old egg boxes, cardboard tubes etc so he has to root around in it to find the goodies. The objects are just to make it a bit harder! it usually buys me half an hour or so of peace.

Handful of frozen peas chucked out onto the lawn, it's healthier than dog biscuits and it takes them a while to sniff them out.

Recall training games around the house - brilliant both for practising a strong sit/stay while you leave the room, and then the "shot out of a cannon" response when you call them!

Beyond the Bow is another great FB group for enrichment ideas.

Obviously that should be "Beyond the Bowl" Hmm

The plastic drinks bottle thing is a great idea! Why did I not think of that! Do you need to put the lid on?

I did forget to say that they have most of their kibble in treat dispensing toys or the Kong "Wobbler" but if they take anything in the garden then the foxes steal it so it had started to get expensive!
Plastic bottles much cheaper alternative anfand basically the same thing!

Will check out the links too 😎

I tend to take the lid off but have forgotten a couple of times and it just gets chewed off, I think a little has been swallowed but comes out.....
