Dog has snapped tooth...

I have another thread in Chat but this is the place for dogs

Dog has snapped off the side of a tooth. One of the big back ones.

He's not in any pain I can tell.

His tooth is not bleeding
I can't see the pulp of the tooth but I'm not a vet or a dentist.

I didn't see him do it but I have just found the half of the tooth in his bed...

I'll be ringing his vet in the morning but anyone had dealings of this? How much is this likely to cost? His insurance won't pay for dental Angry grr!! Just want him sorted out.

Although he isn't showing pain as in whinging and crying, he hasn't eaten his tea and he's pawing at his face. 😢

"He's not in any pain, I can tell"

No...he's pawing and not eating...so he is in pain. They don't whinge every time they hurt OP.

I can't advise on price...if they need to remove the tooth it will be considerable though.

One of my whippets sheared a chunk off one of his carnassial teeth on an antler chew. I actually only noticed as he did a little trembly-jaw-thing when I was brushing his teeth that I've seen dogs do before when they've got some kind of dental pain. Aside from that he was fine, totally well in himself and eating normally. When I looked though I found the offending tooth and the pulp was clearly visible.

The whole tooth had to come out and it was £350.

If your dog isn't eating and is pawing at his face it's clearly bothering him so I'd prepare for the worst and it needing to come out.

Update on the dog.

Tooth needs to come out and they're doing it now as they have space :(

How did it go? Glad they could fit him in straightaway our vet is always busy.

@MimsyFluff vet says he's okay. He should be ready to picked up at 5ish. Poor thing, he'll need lots of cuddles and no more bones!
