"Wee" spots destroying my lawn

Sillysausages007 · 26/08/2017 19:53

A friend suggested there was something you could put in a puppy's water/food to "dilute" (not sure if that's the right word) my puppy's wee so that it doesn't kill the grass.

The garden plants are slowly being flattened by our new puppy, which I can live with, but the spots on the lawn are increasing and at this rate I can see that I'm not going to have any grass left at all. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

I've heard tomato sauce on their food helps.

When I'm at my mum's I empty half a watering can of water on the place the dog has had a wee which definitely works as my mum's lawn is immaculate.

Yep apparently this stuff fetch.co.uk/dog-rocks-lawn-protection-200g-202599011?gclid=CjwKCAjwuITNBRBFEiwA9N9YEKKI-EjSWw3MUcc9kxztPxvTU5xPUoadtmSVIxag_KvpqC3TJxwNAhoCTBMQAvD_BwE

(haven't tried it yet as resent spending money on doggy wee spots although will probably relent at some point)...

I have the same problem. I water thoroughly anywhere she has weed, but obviously I have missed quite a few. With those, I have experimented wth scraping away the dead grass, roughing up the soil a bit and re-seeding, and it grows back very quickly. You can't win though really, I am learning to not mind too much. When I had a dog (as opposed to a bitch) he used to wee on the bedding plants and kill them, which if anything, looked worse.

My dog's wee stopped killing grass once he was moved onto a higher quality food. (Originally on royal canin)

Dog rocks didn't work for us. I've seen stuff to put on the lawn for dealing with lawn burn (on Amazon) but instead we trained the dogs to wee on the flower beds so haven't tried it.

Nothing worked for us! We ended up spending a bloomin' fortune laying artificial turf. Which actually has been a godsend.

Thank you all. We're only 5 weeks in to this puppy-owning lark and already the lawn is suffering. Will try a few of the suggestions on here. I suppose I should be grateful that at least he's weeing outside, rather than in the house .... :)

You can buy stuff from your garden centre that you put in wee patches. It has a high dose of limestone in it that counteracts the acidic wee.

I give Dog a daily small cup of tomato juice (in his bowl clearly). He has it after his breakfast and will wait for it to arrive. It is working ! My lawn was getting destroyed but Ive had no new patches since I started this.

You might want to start with a small amount to rule out any sensitivity. Dogs coat is also looking very nice but this may not be related.
