Leaving dog for the holidays

We've had our greyhound just under three months and we are going on holiday this week coming. Initially we were going to take her back to where she came from (greyhound sanctuary) for the week we're away but our neighbour opposite has offered to have her. They lost their grey 3 years ago and are on the verge of getting another so I know she'll be well looked after.

She's over there now, getting to know them and the house for a couple of hours (I feel bereft). What else should we do for a good experience for her and our neighbours? I'm slightly concerned that as it's so close to our house she might be a bit confused but I'm possibly overthinking the brain power of a grey.....

Thanks all

Clarify your "rules of engagement" i.e. what is your policy on your dog going off lead while with them?

Make sure they have contact details for vet, and a clear steer from you of how you expect them to manage a medical emergency if they can't contact you. Details of your insurance policy if necessary.

Clear notes on any dietary issues/drugs being taken/medical issues.

Think about your dog's tag - consider getting another one made for the holiday week with your neighbour's mobile number on it. With some chip companies, you can also advise them of holiday arrangements.

Most greys thrive on routine/fixed mealtimes so advice on your dog's daily patterns and make sure you have ample supplies of their favourite food/treats.

Clarification on approaches to hound on bed/sofa - most greyhound people are completely OK with this (or else they have the wrong dog!) but it's worth checking.

Thank you. Yes we've agreed they won't let her off lead whilst we're away - too risky.

They've already introduced her to "her" sofa so I think they'll be OK from that side of things.

Great idea re. the tag, thanks.
