I like Nutriment the best - and by that I mean that's the one I like to feed the dog best!

I use Natures Menu from time to time too, but that's a bit mushy and has got big chunks of veg in, it comes out looking much the same as it went in.

We use DAF (Durham Animal Feeds). We got about a month's worth of food for about £30-35. Our puppy loves most of the complete minces he's tried so far but absolutely hated the fish! The chicken wings have gone down a treat.

And do you find it better than regular dried or tinned food?

I feed a mixture of raw & wet (at separate meals). The only dry he gets is in treat balls etc, never given as a meal.

If freezer space permitted, I would definitely feed all raw.

I've never fed him tinned or dry, he's only 12 weeks and the breeder weaned them onto raw. My childhood dog was fed dry kibble and he was always overweight and never as energetic as he could have been. If we'd known then about raw feeding I definitely would have switched!

Join BARF UK on facebook they are brilliant especially if you are new to raw feeding.

I've just started raw feeding my dog, she has Poppy's Picnic and absolutely loves it. She was picky and hesitant with her wet food and kibble previously and wouldn't reliably eat her meals. Since changing to raw she comes running to her food, eats it all licks the bowl and looks for more. I'd really recommend raw food. I've started with a trial box which will last her around 3 weeks and it works out cheaper than the good wet food she had before :)

I would recommend Nutriment. We used to feed my dog dry food and she really wasn't fussed about her food. Since changing to raw she gets really exited when I put her food down and she finishes it in seconds. Nutriment do a starter pack for £20 with free delivery. My dog is 8kg and this lasts her 30 days. You can order the starter pack every time not just for your first order.

I had a look at nutriment but they only seem to have one option for senior dogs.

I've joined the FB group mentioned above a d they have great advice. Such as how to introduce the diet etc.

My dog is 13.5 and eats the whole Nutriment range, there is no need to feed senior dog food.

debbs77 · 01/08/2017 11:13

Ah okay, that's good !!!

Thanks everyone for your advice. Will definitely start getting stuff ordered in the next few days

Once you're comfortable with feeding raw, go on to DIY raw from the complete meals.
You can get all kinds of wonderful for the dogs.
Buffalo, bison, zebra, camel meat chunks as well as the standard chicken, beef, pork etc.
Then pig or cow testicles, lungs , hearts, spleen, gizzards, trachea, trotters, chicken feet. Etc....,
They will love it.

There is also a site called bulmers raw dog meat, you can order and it's only £5 for delivery. I order everything for my 3 girls. I now have a shed and chest freezer just for them, and the cost for 6 months worth of food is great.
