Alternative to ProPlan?

We have recently got a new puppy and she's eating ProPlan medium puppy - the breeder gave us a big bag for her. I'm not particularly happy with ProPlan as it's Purina which is a Nestle brand and i've been boycotting them for years.

I know not to switch her food until she's settled in and house trained. I will probably do it when she's ready to move from the puppy food to the next stage in about 3 months time. What do other people recommend? Price not really a massive issue, would be happy to pay a bit more for a quality product. We also have several large pet shops within easy reach so all major brands available. Definitely want to stick with dry food not cans and not raw food either.

I used allaboutdogfood.co.uk to choose the food I wanted. I went with one with a high score and because you tend to need less quantity with good quality food it doesn't necessary mean a high price.

Have a browse on All About Dog Food, it's very handy when looking for a new food.

I have all mine on an own brand food from a local shop - it's grain free and has a really high meat content. Similar to Acana but half the price Smile. A friend in England ordered a bag and it was there within a few days too, and her pup likes it as much as mine do.

Use the allaboutdog food site. There is also a review generator where you can copy/paste ingredient lists of foods that aren't rated to see what they would get. Sometimes foods that look like they only have good ingredients score lower than you think due to missing/unbalanced elements.

I have never see a good food in a supermarket. If you can try to go for a food 4 or higher. Buying larger bags online or on some sites multiple bags of a good quality food can work out much cheaper than buying at pet shops. We buy at a least 3 14kg bags and it saves an extra £10 and also means we only need to be home for deliveries every 6 months.

If you can get a food that is of a high enough quality it is suitable for puppies too. Puppy versions of food tend to be over priced.
