Fostered a Ddog for 18 months with no rescue contact, where do I stand now?

I took in a dear little foster dog last year through a rescue centre, I really fell for her via volunteering with walks and after a bit of paperwork they dropped her to mine with no further contact.

I'll admit I've nit contacted them either because of the adoption fee but I've now had her here for 18months, spent money on food, grooming, collars, leads etc. I want her to see a vet for a check up but the vet said the chip if there is one is with the rescue so technically. She still belongs to them.

Is that right/true?

Is the rescue still running? Contact them and ask them if you can now keep the dog and get the chip changed to your name. I can't see them being bothered about getting the adoption fee from you after 18 months. They obviously haven't tried very hard to find her a new home. If the rescue aren't contactable then send off a form applying to change the chip into your name, the chip company contact last known owner and if no contact back from them within a certain time will just put it into your name.

The rescue has a court order on them for closure, and a public witch hunt that I have kept out of and just focused on Ddog. I've bee nervous about contacting/ reminding them about Ddog in case she got pulled into a closure deal and was taken away from us, we love her, so I've stayed silent just in case.

If the vets is just for a check up they should be able to do that without you being dogs official owner. Or just tell the vet you are taking ddog there on behalf of the rescue as you are dogs foster carer (which is true). Given the issues with the rescue I would just keep quiet and wait and see.

Thank you.

I have messaged them this evening just asking about the chip and in regards to Ddog being with us now for 18 mnths...

They are due to be closed soon, apparently, DDog is now a family dog after being dropped here In shut down mode, we love her and does her x

Phone the chipping company and pay the £20 to get the chip details changed to your address.
