Mupdog has eaten a tiny bit of chocolate

DH left half a milk choco leibniz on the table when he went to answer the phone, and Ddog managed to snaffle it before I could stop her. I got about half of it out of her mouth before she swallowed it so based on weight of biscuit / % of biscuit already eaten by DH I reckon she's had maybe 5g of milk choc. Phoned the vet and they said would prob be fine, and checked toxicity calculators on line and they all indicate the amount is so small compared to her weight she might be a bit sick but nothing more. I'm still really worried though, but I am a bit PFB about her. Am I being daft?

We're normally so careful but I thought he'd eaten it all, he thought I knew it was there and would keep an eye on her, and she isn't a food stealer at all so I was surprised she'd even taken it when I realised what had happened. Must be more careful 😢

Don't worry. I'm sure she'll be fine. Same thing has happened to my tiny yorkie and I was so worried. She was fine, wasn't even sick, I was just more careful.

When I was a teen my rotty ate about 8 big Easter eggs complete with packaging.

Completely unharmed. .
I was gutted!!

She will be fine Smile

When our terrier at about 80g of lindt dark chocolate, the vet told us she was on the borderline for likely toxicity, took her in over night just in case but she was fine.

Keep an eye out for any symptoms (vomiting, rapid breathing, etc.) but honestly, chances are she'll be absolutely fine.

Unlike things like grapes the toxic dose of chocolate is pretty predictable, if all the calculators are saying she's well under it then it's very unlikely she'll have any problems at all.

In the days before we knew that chocolate was toxic to dogs, my parents' small (terrier-sized) dog regularly got a small piece of chocolate as a treat - half a square of Dairy Milk.

She lived to be 17.

Our childhood dog used to regularly eat Maltesers and he lived to 19 :)

Thanks for the reassurance all. We're 3 hours down the line and she seems absolutely fine, so hopefully no damage done! Will be more careful in future.
