Vaccinations

My recently adopted rescue is due his boosters in July. Wondered if you generally got yours vaccinated - he would never have to go to day care or kennels and know some owners do not vaccinate. If you do, what vaccine to they have - Nobivak or Canigen? Any advice appreciated thank you

Nope I never vaccinate mine. There is absolutely no need. It does more harm than good. You can't boost immunity.

That's some great science based evidence right there.....

We vaccinate our dog

We totally believe in vaccines for humans and our pets SmileSmileSmile

If your unsure you could always get a titre test and check their immunity.

Mine are vaccinated only because we use kennels.

I used to have 1 dog that we never vaccinated after an adverse reaction. The vet entirely supported our choice after he pocketed the £900 it cost to help him recover. Loads of people said he would die of some dreadful disease but he was actually the last of his litter by almost 3 years and was 2 months short of being the oldest living registered dog of his breed. Unfortunately he developed lung cancer so we let him go but he probably would have carried on for quite a while longer.

My pet insurance insists on up to date vaccinations and when we adopted a rescue they asked if all our other pets were vaccinated.
It's taken as some sort of proof that you are a responsible owner. Actually the diseases covered are quite rare now but you could say the same of children's vaccinations.

BiteyShark · 15/06/2017 07:30

I am another firm believer in vaccinations for humans and pets so I go on the advice of the vets and have the vaccinations that they recommend.

Lonecatwithkitten · 16/06/2017 06:53

On your question as to which vaccine the two you are asking about Nobivac and Canigen are the same vaccine, made in the same factory and then different labels stuck on the bottles.

LaGattaNera · 16/06/2017 18:00

Yes thanks Lonecat I have looked into it now - one vet about 15 mins away offers Canigen booster for just £15 my regular vet offers Nobivac booster for £58.
