Hi, we have a 16 month old Polish Lowland Sheepdog who has developed a habit of mouthing/ hearing people since our baby came along. We got her when she was 8 weeks old from a very reputable breeder and she has attended obedience classes as well as regular training and exercise at home.
She has became very nurturing and protective towards our new baby (now 4 months old) but when my niece visited a few weeks ago (5YO) our dog began trying to "heard" her when she ran/ danced around the room (as 5YOs tend to do) she actually at one point grabbed her by the arm with her mouth. I want to make it very clear that it wasn't a bite, she didn't even mark her, and it wasn't aggressive as she was just wagging her tail and playing but I'm worried about the behaviour and I'm looking at how I can stop this through training?
I've contacted our local one on one dog trainer who can come to visit but she can't see us for 6 weeks (quite rural location) and I'd really like to do something in the mean time (still using the dog trainer in 6 weeks too)
Does anyone have any recommendations for behavioural exercises I can do with my dog. I completely appreciate this isn't our dogs fault and I want to give her the best opportunity to learn the right behaviour.
Please no hate - I welcome constructive suggestions. Thank you
