Best dry dog food?

We're in the process of adopting a three year old cocker spaniel and I'm getting everything we need together. I want to get a good quality dry food but the range out there is baffling!

What do people think the best kind is? Also is there anywhere you can get sample packs to make sure she likes it. She's currently on some kind of locally made stuff in the foster home (not near us) but I would rather use something that's a bit more readily available!

Our old spaniel was a fussy chap and would only eat cheap stuff (I know!) so I'm hoping the latest addition will have better taste!

Thank you lumela, when pup was on a reasonable quality dried kibble her digestion was up and down. The combo of cold pressed kibble rather than totally nuked dried and wet quality food has vastly improved her digestion. She gets variety plus the odd bone which equals one happy dog, no flatulence, no constipation, no diahhorea just small firm poos, don't know if the leave it training is working but she is not that interested in cow or horse poo either, sheeps might be an other matter entirely!

Or the ever-popular rabbit maltesers, Coco...

Another vote for eden - appears expensive but smaller feeding portions than some due to lack of fillers. Previously tried simpsons but didnt get on with it

My 4 year old cocker is on Millies Wolfheart - he's very fussy, and has had colitis in the past but this really suits him. Their customer support is outstanding, and we've tried quite a few of the varieties...he seems to like them all!!

The reasoning for not feeding both raw and kibble is based on the impact of the different diets on the gastric acidity of the canine gut. Basically, feeding kibble may inhibit the ability of a raw fed dog to digest raw bones and destroy bacteria. This provides a good description of the theory.
