How much do you spend on dog food

I currently buy large breed puppy expensive brand of dog kibble at £65 per bag, which lasts around 4 weeks, on top of which he has fresh chicken, beef, veg, sweet pots, canned fish etc.

Just wondered what you all spend approx a month for your pooches ?

I buy a 5kilo bag of Millie's Wolfheart dry kibble for my puppy at £25 which lasts for about 3-4 weeks I think. We also feed him treats, chews and raw veg on top.

Should say mine is a spaniel so medium size dog.

I buy forthglade meal trays with a topping of Origen kibble which works out at £30 a month. Mines a Boston Terrier so small/medium breed and buy through berrywoods.

12kg Millies for £49, £10/box of 10 Wainwrights Light wet food trays, and I also buy frozen cauli, broc, green beans and sprouts so probably around £80 ish per month. She then has a daily dental chew and a couple of times a week she has tinned oily fish. She also has supplements on top of that which cost £65/month

Labrador by the way

For four medium sized (12kg - 17kg) dogs:

About £40-50 a month on MWH Countryside Mix for the whippets and Hunter Mix for DDog2.

About £30 a month on Forthglade Grain Free wet trays.

About £25 a month on small tins/trays of Applaws wet and small pouches of Nature's Menu Country Hunter wet.

A few pounds each week on things like tinned fish, eggs, the odd bit of fresh meat, etc.

So on average it works out at about £25 a month per dog. Which feels far more reasonable than £100 a month altogether

Raw fed dog, probably eats the equivalent of 3 chickens a week, so about ten pound a week. He actually has a mixture of pork, organs and beef as well, but it averages out to that I'd say.

Raw feeding is cheaper than specialist vet dog food for dogs with possible allergies, and he's been very healthy. Only had fleas once in 6 years (no topical treatments).

Raw fed medium size puppy about £45 on complete food then I do give her bones from the butcher too at maybe £5 per month.

Labrador, Millies Wolfheart Countryside mix 2 x 14.5kg £96. Each bag last 6-7 weeks.

About £1.25 each a day average for Labrador (13yo) plus lab-cocker cross, 2x Millies countryside mix 14.5kg for £96 (plus £7 to ship outside UK) lasts about 5-6 weeks. Supplemented to various degrees by what 10 month old daughter drops during meal times. Dogs banned from dining room but I gather leftovers for mealtimes.

Old labs daily arthritis pills cost more than his food.

Raw fed cockapoo, 10kg. I feed a mixture of complete commercial (nutriment and natural instinct) and DIY, and spend £30 a month. Much cheaper and all of my DIY is very good quality human grade meat/offal.

I'm spending about £10 a week on Symply puppy kibble, she also has treats (cheese, apple,frankfurter ). And the odd bone too.

Can I ask a question? (Don't mean to hijack sorry OP), is it ok to give our 7 month old pup scraps of our food? I mean casseroles, left over roast meat etc?

Missy it depends - dogs can't eat onions, for example, and most casseroles contain onion so in that case best avoided. A bit of plain meat, fish or veg eg carrot, sweet potato etc would be fine.

If I were you i'd go online an familiarise yourself with what you can and can't feed, so you feel more confident.

About 25-30 a month all in. That's a 12kg bag of Harrington's dry food and then a few other bits like tins of sardines and treats on top. This is for a greyhound.

We order aatu from monster pet supplies it works out about 33 quid a month in bulk. That's one cocker spaniel. It's gluten and grain free. I chose it from the allabiutdogfiod site as recommended on here. God send!!

Small 6.5kg dog.

£7 for 1kg of Lilly's Kitchen grain-free dry food (or £42 for 7kg) which lasts maybe a month and then a variety of Lilly's Kitchen wet food cans which are I think around £2.25ea and they last about 6 days.
