Doggy smelling sofa...

How do you prevent your sofa smelling too much like your pooch? Our hairy collie puppy loves to snuggle on ours & DH is complaining bitterly about the smell despite nightly fe breezing......I fully intend to get her a bed for the kitchen, but I know it'll become the smelly corner!! How to avoid?

You might need to have it professionally cleaned. Then buy that bed, we have a plastic one with a sort of washable bean bag in it, then blankets which are easily washed. All her bedding gets washed once a week, and the actual bed gets wiped over.

Yes, get it cleaned first.

Then just buy throws. I let my 2 on the sofa & I bought 4 cheap furry ones. I wash them every few days with febreeze in between.

I also put reed diffusers & scented candles round the room. It works well and there is no smell.

We also use throws and wash them regularly , but also our dog is bathed regularly as well and only occasionally smells doggy .

We have half a dozen throws which get frequently washed and rapidly changed if someone is coming round.

Got the sofas steamed cleaned in the summer which was a bit of a revelation as well!

Thx All. We have a fleecy blanket which she steadfastly refuses to sit on. I'm guessing the new bed on the floor will be declined too. Steam cleaner & throws it is then.

Floral, how often do you bathe your dog?

He goes to the groomers on a 2 week / 3 week cycle , bath one time and bath and clip the next and if he rolls in anything he gets washed at home in between , like today when he found some delightful fox poo . He does sleep on his own bed a fair bit as well ( mainly overnight) and I wash those blankets every couple of days , as I figure if he's sitting on something whiffy then that won't help .
