New furry baby coming - what are my essentials? RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

I have a new furry baby coming in the new year and thought I might get ahead with some bits and bobs as xmas ideas (for me).

However I am struggling to remember what our current 7yo furry baby enjoyed and what essentials I will need Hmm I think I am in that Christmas overload of doing everything for everyone Grin.

We have a crate - although need one for the car

So what furry baby essentials should I put on my list - am sure things have moved on since furry baby no1 came on the scene!

TIA

(New baby will hopefully be working dog trained - that is the intention with the idea that she will then just end up trained Grin so ideally I don't want to encourage her to chew too many toys!)

Get a tooth brush and start brushing your puppy's teeth early, it'll make it so much easier in the long run.

Ooh good idea!

Any ideas on best bedding? Thinking vet bed stuff as don't want to invest in a super chew bed until the chewing stage is at its end - last one managed to get chewed significantly Smile

That floor spray stuff so that - if they have an accident - they can't smell it and target the same place again - like this

I know that stuff and think I still have some left from the last dog although massively out of date

Even if you hate them, get some crocs as you'll be going out a squillion times a day for toilet training and its a lot easier to just stick your feet in them.

I think its easier to have them sleeping on a folded fleece blanket that can be washed and dried quickly than vet bed tbh

Really good, high value treats for training. My dogs are barmy for treats2sit4 atomic drops

Dog whistles - I have 4 matched frequency gun dog whistles on lanyards, which make recall training vastly easier

PoohBearsHole · 13/12/2016 16:17

Oooh great idea

Something easy to wash is a great idea

Will look at those treats2sit4

I am pretty sure I would feel this nervous/excited and a little bit "what do I need" if I had a baby coming. I've done that more than once but seem to have forgotten the early years...................

I have back door shoes - they are brilliant.

Expect the puppy will eat those though Hmm

Having recently got a pup the thing I seem to use most is the torch for all the wandering around the garden late at night.

PoohBearsHole · 13/12/2016 18:01

Torch, and batteries, got it Wink

Unless the new fur-baby is a lab, in which case you can use literally anything edible Wink
